We tended not to attack and passed the ball backwards. That's why they boo...

.
I was there, and it was because we were getting free kicks in good positions and passing them short backwards to retain possession, and for some reason our defenders kept running the ball out of defence and losing possession (Distin did it multiple times).

After the run of form we've been on I think the fans expected a bit of passion from the off, but it was a strange opening 20 minutes and only once we got the goal did we show any real ambition.

Not saying it was right to boo, and I didn't myself, but I can see why some where frustrated when we're playing really poor opposition and looking like we're trying to play perfect 32 pass moves to break them down. Sometimes just going direct and mixing it up is in order I reckon.

But booing can make players nervous and back into their shell, they are following the instructions of our manager.

We have to play Barkley deeper, that is a given, it's plain to see from tonight.

So it's Besic or McCarthy alongside him which is one hell of a decision to make, Besic for me because of his technical ability on the ball.

If we build a side around Barkley in that role we will go places, I hope Bobby saw that tonight because we all did on here.

So refreshing to have a comfortable lead for once and not have to panic.

That free kick we had in their half and somehow managed to pass it all the way back to Howard. Just LOL.

Barkley was good, pulled the strings well, and Naismith gave us the bit of craft needed to give us the win without getting out of first gear.

Lukaku was absolutely dreadful, and don't start the 'no service' argument as that was not the problem. It was the chronic lack of movement and diabolical first touch, whilst looking sluggish and slow all round. He stank the place out tonight and he has nobody to blame for that performance than himself.

I had a pop at you over lukaku last week, Not tonight, He was awful

Drop Mcarthy?

Ok mate

Liked the centre mid duo, wasn't too much else to get excited about though.

Full backs aren't on the top of their game right now which is a great hindrance to the team. McGeady is still doing absolutely nothing to convince me he deserves to be on the pitch.

Will be surprised if Southampton is anything other than a draw at the weekend, which is okay as long as we follow that up with a win.
