Naismith is above all possibl y the most intelligent player we have. Add to that he applies himself 100% to the game and never loses concentration - he is in the zone all game. Doesn't let mistakes affect him, gets in the refs face, his opponents face. Add to that he's a good footballer and you have a top class pro.

Never makes mistakes apart from all those passes that go the opposition.

Its the likes of @davek that fails to give him the respect he deserves. He keeps playing boss and keeps slotting.

We can also rotate him with Barkley and Mirallas. Its really quite wonderful.

This forward line is pretty great. Now we've tightened up at the back we're starting to see some good stuff.

Without this faux Barkley v Naismith argument.

His problem in his 1st season wasn't the positions he was playing, it was his confidence! I've watched Naismith since he was a youngster breaking through at Kilmarnock and the one that played his 1st season for Everton wasn't the real Naismith, nowhere near it! I think people forget he had just returned from back 2 back cruciate knee injuries, it takes some getting over mentally and physically!

Spot on that.

In a recent interview he said he didn't actually believe he was good enough to play for Everton when he first got here ( or words to that effect ) and it took him a while to find some self belief
