Single malts

Yes mate. Both distilleries do more expressions but those are the two you'll see most.

Groucho is your man tbh. I'm a novice by comparison. It was him who convinced me to try Bunnahabhain, for which I am v. grateful.

yes he does...
@Groucho man knows his whiskey! :)

Pah, too kind. I find the more "research" I do, the less drinking I do........

I buy a bit of my whisky from that site. That's a good price for Ardbeg 10, even factoring in the shipping.

They do samples of lots of whiskies, too, which is both a good way of finding out whether you want a bottle of something and also a good way of trying rarer whiskies you'd (well, I'd) never be able to afford in a million years.

Got a gift of that Haig whisky that's been promoted recently - single grain rather than single malt. Nice enough but extremely light-tasting relative to the hairy-arsed Islays I'd normally drink. Good for a bit of contrast.

Personally, a Dalwhinnie, Royal Lochnagar or Laphroaig are nice common tipples which are within a fair price range.

Unfortunately, I do not drink a single malt much anymore regardless of my love for the stuff.

After one or two I turn either into the most jovial individual you could meet, or extremely aggressive. The latter isn't something I like. So, I pretty much limit have a short unless I am at home by myself and maybe before bed.

What is worse, I've got about £800s worth of malts in a kitchen cupboard. My brother works as an exec for Diagio and continually buys me a bottle each year for my birthday, even though I am drinking less than half a bottle a year.
