It's the fact you're saying anyone with a contrary view is a div more than your view itself.

I'm not even sure anyone is moaning - they're just not saying it's a definite signing of the season type of thing. There are a few possible negatives to this - his age, desire for the game, salary etc. People aren't saying they are deal breakers for them but they're highlighting the possibility of this deal being more of a flop than many envisage.

I think that from Tubey is a very nicely balanced and fair post. Signing Eto'o is a bit of a gamble it is obviously a risk the club and management are prepared to take.

So basically being negative bells before he's even played a game for us?

Bit like the signings of McCarthy and Barry then....

I never called anyone divs Tubes it was efcarentwe

Don't understand anyone complaining really. The guy has consistently scored goals at the highest level, including last year at Chelsea. He has a somewhat chequered history, but seems to have a great work-ethic and always looks very fit to me.

To put his age in context, he is 33 but he's less than 6 months older than Ibrahimovic, a player who scored 41 goals for PSG last season. I don't doubt that Eto'o would have scored a fair few more than he did if he'd started regularly.

On top of the goals, what he offers off the pitch is equally exciting. What a great role model for players on the way up like Barkley and Lukaku, I'm excited to think what it might mean for their aspirations as players. The guy has won leagues in Italy and Spain and has three Champions League medals.

To me, it's an absolute no-brainer.

The transfer fee is only one side of the costs to a club, wages are important as well...Plus, if you have a wage structure in place then there will inevitably be jealousy from those who feel undervalued/underpaid which can have a destabilizing effect...Something no team can discount, IMO

He's a very good signing though and will provide a winning mentality even in training since he is a hard working professional on top of all his other qualities
True, but have we any player that would claim they deserve more than SAmuel Eto'o??

Any who sounds like hes on a lot less than we first thought..

I think he's a great signing. The fans will love him, he brings vast experience, and has proven for years that he is absolute quality by scoring goals for every club he has been at.

Personally, I believe he struggled a little bit at Chelsea last year because he was primarily their main forward, and suffered a lot of jip from Mourinho and the Chelsea fans about his age, etc. He's coming in here without that pressure, and to a club still playing at a very high competitive level.

If he was another 'Ginola', I think he would have chosen a club like QPR or West Ham instead (no disrespect).

Bit like a few with Bilyaletdinov, Kone etc. too.

Not every player who signs for Everton is instantly brilliant. I don't think it's being negative to have a few concerns, unless it's an all out "he's absolute tosh, always hated him, sadslayhsahieuoioo" etc. post, but I haven't seen many - if any - in this thread of that nature. Most of the comments are of the "if" nature more than anything - not writing him off, but having a degree of caution about him. Some people would have preferred an alternative like Welbeck - I disagree, but it's not a crime to want a different player in an ideal situation.

Eto'o will make a fantastic squad player. He'll be perfect to bring on when Lukaku is tiring, in cup games etc.

It's not like you're getting in him to be your main striker.
