I've never been his biggest fan - probably the Manu effect in my thinking - but, I reckon Welbeck could actually be a good signing if it were to happen. He's young, has plenty of points to prove and most all he has pace that played alongside the muscle and strength of Lukaku would cause most central defenders to have nightmares.

I just can't see how we won't get goals with him up front and Rom on the right. If his movement is as good as it was, it will frankly scare the pants off defences :) That said, it's widely known he can be a disrupting influence... Two bladed sword of the signing imho

I do think eto is a good deal for club finically as he's on a free transfer whereas if we loaned troare or welbeck then there is also a loan fee involved. Maybe now there will be room to loan an attacking midfielder and a centre back

The Naismith role behind Lukaku? Nah, not for me - the guy is a poacher now. He will play CF I reckon whenever Lukaku needs a rest or is being played out wide.

The way Lukaku is utlised is that he drops deep and links attacks - Naismith is actually the more advanced forward of the two half the time as he starts from a more advanced position.

Eto'o has sound movement and intelligence, similar to Naismith but with the added class on the ball. Think it'd be a good role for him - for me, I think Eto'o is more a response to Barkley's injury than as a back up to Lukaku, but with the added bonus he can play both roles. The reason he was such a top striker is he was a complete player in his prime - if we get anything like it from him then he'll do brilliantly in both roles. If.

It's a forum mate, people can have differing opinions, pipe down.

It's the fact you're saying anyone with a contrary view is a div more than your view itself.

I'm not even sure anyone is moaning - they're just not saying it's a definite signing of the season type of thing. There are a few possible negatives to this - his age, desire for the game, salary etc. People aren't saying they are deal breakers for them but they're highlighting the possibility of this deal being more of a flop than many envisage.
