I'm pretty sure if you were playing against Bayern Munich, the performance would have been different. If you were actually trying and losing then it would be concerning.

Ive never wondered anything about Wigan. RM didnt do too badly last season did he ? Or by your skewed logic are you saying we weren't ready then too if RM needs to examine his pre-season preparation ? Are you saying Baines is past it.....at 29 ? Have you taken your medication ?

Nah.. Meaningless all those wins. No benefit from them at all. Better to lose them all and just expect that it'll all come together next Saturday......
 
What I want to know is, if all these friendlies are meaningless, are played only for fitness purposes, that performances in them don't matter, and certainly the results don't, then why were we being charged £20 to watch them!?

All that says to me is that they've exerted themselves during pre-season getting the wins whilst it's just been exercise for us.

I expect we'll be fresher than them, 100% expect us to get a result.
 
I can only imagine Martinez has told them to go easy in the friendlies as we've been shockingly lax at times. Will it be hard to get in the right mentality for the competitive game now? I suppose we'll see but I can't imagine they'll be that bad.
 
Almost didn't want to come on the forum tonight tbh as I imagined the meltfest would be unbearable after that match. Most posts I've seen however have been reasonable and level-headed thankfully.

They didn't look like they were over-exerting themselves when they beat us.
 
The season starts next Saturday not two or three weeks ago. These meaningless friendlies are a means to end, part of the preparation programme for a 50 plus game season - nothing more, nothing less.

Crack a beer, pour a glass of wine and enjoy your Saturday evening..........
