Leighton Baines

Wow love the knee jerking on this forum sometimes. Now baines has lost a yard of pace, he's playing on the last 2 years performances. Oviedo is the future, baines can't play in Roberto's system and has not adapted. Guys get a grip. See not of you saying this was writing this after the united win, arsenal win, etc etc. but when we lose it's ll so obvious he's no good anymore. Baines is England's number 1 left back and is brilliant.

Difficult one this. Baines doesn't look as effective without Piennar being on the pitch. Sadly Piennar just seem effective these days full stop. We need to buy a younger left sided version of Piennar someone with pace (how good would countinho look with Baines). Oviedo has been excellent from the moment he came into the side to replace Baines, but his form was over the third of a season. Baines has been a class act for years. The sad thing is Baines is going to be shattered due to the World Cup, I think you could see Oviedo (who ironically would benefit from the World Cup to regain fitness) starting the season in the left back berth to give Baines more rest. Likewise stones and distin will be our centre half pairing to give jags additional rest.

I don't have a problem with Baines. Better with him than without him and I can't think of anyone I would rather have. He is a major player in the team and I hope he sticks at the club long term.

Yeah, Moyes' tactics were to get it to Pienaar/Baines and hope they could come up with something. Martinez has us playing with creativity all over the pitch.

Yep which means Baines get less of the ball and the game not all about him.

Anyway is Martinez going to be moving Baines into midfield next season to replace Barry

would of flogged him to Utd for 15 mil had oviedo as first team LB, signed a decent 5 mil LB cover and used that 10 mil left over on Tadic

Can't believe some of these comments. Baines is vital for us!

He's not been at his best for about a month as I reckon he's injured...
To be honest hes not been his usual steller self the entire season, if anything ive thought hes been getting better the past month or so, still an awesome player though

Scores endless vital penalties and sometimes set pieces but yeah this season has been far from his best.

I'd like to see him make them bursting runs forward more.

He's hard to handle when he's making similar runs to Seamus!
