Don't think Cleverley would offer us anything we don't already have except for depth really. He certainly isn't the door unlocker which we're crying out for. But then again if Bobby rates him that highly and has seen the lad in training for a whole year then I suppose I trust him on it.

Jack Colback looks like your pretty standard premier league lower team centre mid. Will never particularly worry you but does his job adequately enough. But then he is ginger, and I feel we don't have enough of those around Goodison these days and he would be a free, so again he's a maybe from me.

Jack Cork doesn't seem to start for Southampton and we're better than them so surely we can do better than picking up their benchwarmers? Sounds like a midfield destroyer - I'm basing that purely on the fact that he's never scored for them. So he must be something. Then again, his middle name is Porteous. PORTEOUS.

Sign them all FFS.
Cork is the best of them at this time. Cleverly would be bought in the hope he can replicate his Wigan days and Colback is just a waste of time in my opinion.
Cork's passing range is pretty impressive and his work ethic is top notch. For 3m as a back up player he'd be an absolute bargain.
I'd like us to invest in a creative midfielder as well though some time in the near future.

Centre mids I've thought would be [Poor language removed] for us and have been anything from decent to great:
Neville
Gibson
Naismith
McCarthy
Barry

So, basically, I'm going to keep my mouth shut and wait to see him play, for fear of brutal vaulting in a year's time.

Decent? DECENT?

I'm sorry but every time I look at that weasel faced, negative manc wannabe excuse of an Everton captain I just want to punch something within punching range

I only remember him for that season-turning tackle on Ronaldo in October 2008.... the rest of his career is something I would describe as indifferent, and that's being generous.

Cleverly would be a star at Everton. He would be as impressive as James McCarthy playing under RM.

Look at what he has already done in his career and the managers he has played for.
This season at Utd must be completely ignored as it is obvious that the divide between manager and players
was far greater than any of us imagined.

The thing with Hernandez, and it's been mentioned before, it would require quite the change in our game to fit him in.

He's not exactly a lone striker type is he?

other than on the squad sheet do we even play like we have a lone striker?

Lukaku comes back for the ball occasionally and that first touch ...um needs some work. Hernandez could prolly take that pass better and move it into a more attacking position.

How many of our goals actually come from a cross in the air or when we hoof it up to the top. Maybe a handful?
I would venture the majority of our goals come from quick passing on the carpet into space or good attacking runs towards goal.

In other words, exactly what chicharito does already. ...and poaching.

Martinez isn't a magician. The whole 'imagine what he'd be like under Martinez' argument won't work for everyone.

Personally I wouldn't be interested in Cleverly providing Gibson returned to fitness.

Gibson was abused so badly by man utd fans that he deleted his twitter, Cleverly has been terrible this season however clearly showed promise from the seasons before, I was personally happy with the signing of Gareth Barry at the time but i certainly didn't think he would be as influencial as he has been. Martinez clearly has an eye for midfielders and if he is interested in the signing of cleverly how can I complain with the two he has already signed. I still think it would be naive to say it would take a magician to make him a good player on the other hand price is the issue for me and I believe there are better options out there however the same media outlets that are selling our players to every team under the sun are creating an image that he is an inept footballer just to sell news papers when it simply isn't true.

It has nothing to do with RM being a majician.
McCarthy was always going to be a success at Everton.I was absolutely confident of that. At one stage
before he signed I likened him to Roy Keane and I think that will be proven to be correct.

Cleverly is also a very good player going through a bad patch. He will be a top player again and ..yes I
do believe that RM is a manager that could get the best from him.
I read recently RM talking about Cleverly and I can imagine any player wanting to play for a manager
who talked about him as RM did.

Bobby likes him:
"There are only a few players in this country who have had the sort of education where they look as if they could have been brought up in Holland, Spain or France," he said. "Tom is one of them. I just don't understand this campaign, it is not the way to encourage young players.

"Maybe he has been given a bigger role than he should have been given but even so it is ridiculous to put someone so young in the spotlight then knock him down. We as a public are to blame if we allow that to happen. You have to help young players reach a level.

"What has happened is not Tom's fault, I think he is as good a talent as we have in the English game, and he is still growing. You wouldn't get this in other countries, and I find it disappointing that he is being judged so aggressively when he has not even reached 200 games. Such a young player does not need that sort of scrutiny or pressure, but I am sure he will come through it and be even more motivated."

Jdawg surprised me just how highly Martinez rated the lad actually, can see why he may have an interest in buying him

it's rather remarcable how badly Moyes played him. Would like to see Clev in royal blue, have a feeling he would be a good signing.
