ok ive been looking into this .
so far ive got as far as pat van den hauwe , but he played for wales not holland.

so by forfeit would they make ray atteveld the oldest foriegn player ?

surely theres a older johny foriegner in our past ?

its an interesting point.

at what point does an immigrant become a national ?

regardless of parentage , i think if your born in a country and live i that country , then that makes you a national.

take our arteta , he is spanish but could soon play for england.
he is not english and will never be english.
but if he has a son , who is born here , raised here and lives here the that kid will be english imo and not spanish wther he likes it or not.

ive got friends who class themselves as irish , despite the fact they have lived in england for 3 or 4 generations and never stepped foot in ireland. this sort of [Poor language removed] grinds my gears.i dont around saying "no im not english ' im a norman or a viking.

but Artetas child would be entitled to a Spanish passport and would therefore be classed as being Spanish would he not ?

My name is Jones, Dad family is traced back to Wales. Mums family is traced back to Russia an Poland. Im born an bread in L'pool so was all my family.

What does this make me.............

fukked up id say.....

Depends if he was born in Alderhey and with a tash and perm - then he would qualify for a Scouse passport.
