S'alright.

About to finish Sonny Barger's book on the Hell's Angels. Its OK, but he's properly playing it safe and he very rarely gives his opinion on anything, its just a bunch of facts really. It could be so much better but they'd probably lock him up for it.

Then again Chopper Reid's book was incredible and he didn't get locked up for it.

Just finished reading Flowers for Algernon. Brilliant, brilliant book.
Looking to see if i can pick up Farenheit 451 on the cheap. Anyone read it?

How accessible is 23 Things They Don't Tell You About Capitalism?

I've got a copy I've not read yet. It's not normally the type of book I'd go for, but it sounds interesting. Any background reading required or is this as good a starting point as any? Cheers.

No background reading necessary - he explains things pretty simply without going too far into technical terms. His intention is to explain things to the lay person. I can understand it all so far and no very little about economics.

as shorted and pathetic decision as you could make, the tories are everything I expect them to be
I have read all of that article and I don't see what the whole issue is. Prisoners can buy books from Amazon (using their rightly limited funds earned or sent in from friends and family) or borrow them from the library. If there is a story here it is in the under funding of prison libraries and not the restriction of access to reading material. I agree with the prison minister that parcels from outside prison should be tightly regulated both in terms of managing contraband and privileges.

I am not a tory by any stretch of the imagination, and I believe that prison should be unpleasant and difficult.

Surely you also understand that education in prisons is the most effective way to prevent reoffending, and that this hinders that massively. But then the goverment gets to look tough on crime and save a few pennies, rather than doing something that benefits society.
