How did you become a fan of Everton?

Same here Coyney, I had no option, and now my children are 5th generation blues !

My great-grandfather played for Everton in the 1890's and scored in the losing 1897 FA Cup final against Aston Villa at Crystal Palace. Almost without exception, the family have been blues ever since. My grand-father was perhaps our family's greatest fan not missing a home game for very nearly 50 years.
A man to proud of and I wish one of my relatives had played for them its people like your Grandad that we owe it to ensure a future for the club.

Thank you - my grandfather always told me it was a privilege to be an "Evertonian", he was so proud of his football team.

It's funny, because today I watch my 8 yr old play football in an Everton away top with Cahill on the back and I feel so proud of him being a blue amongst all of the Chelsea supporters at his school. :)

Our future is in the hands of my son and your grandson, they'll support the club no matter what mess the Board puts us in.

I had no option,my dads dads, dad was a blue, and no one has bucked the trend.we all have to take our children to at least one game, took my grandson to the games this season and he is now the fifth generation blue.looking forward to him taking his grand kids bit of a wait though hes only 8:lol:

Same here. My Dads Dads (my Grandad) family has been Blue since Everton begun i think.

But my Dads Mums family has been Liverpool fans ever since.

My first game was at White Hart Lane in 1958. We lost 10-4 and I have been smitten ever since. Mind you I did go home in tears !
But I have seen some of the wonderful players/teams that we had in years gone by and it has been a wonderful journey.

It was kind of random selection for me. My brother and I were looking at the league table, back when I was 6/7 years old, but we didnt know much about the league. My brother supported Blackburn Rovers because he thought the name was cool (went on to become a rs). I saw Everton stone-bottom and felt sorry for them, so they got my support. Blackburn won the league that year and Everton won the FA cup (y)

Like many I was born with this affliction. Don't remember making any choice about it. But I think it was my uncle who got us into it, taking my older brother to goodison in the late 60s when I was v young. We'd be at me nan's every Saturday. He would never have taken me or my sister as in our family football was strictly for the boys. Just like the pub on the saturday night while the women looked after the kids (for a change).

As a Dane in his 30s you're pretty much brought up with "Sports Saturday" where the main event was live footy from England. The first game I remember was the FA Cup final from 1985 - at the time I really liked Robson and Jesper Olsen (famous Dane?) in the United side, so I pretty much hoped that United would win. EFC made quite an impression and I always looked for their result after Uniteds.

In 1995 I moved to London and found out what a load of crap that Sir Alex constantly says - I could not support this(this is something that you only learn when you get to live in the UK)! So I switched my support to Sheffield Wednesday - I really liked their team - Hirst, Bright, Walker, Waddle, and Sheridan etc. - but things went from worse and then to worst, when Wednesday dropped into League 2. With no chance to ever catch a game with them and the news coverage being close to zero, I was on the lookout for a new club.

Now I had cheered when Moyes was announced, here was a club that put faith in somebody who had worked hard to get to where he was and Gravesen was there as well as WR. The more I read about the club the more I was hooked, and since then it has pretty much been upwards. Moyes has bought so many players that I liked before they came to EFC, which is great. Cahill, Lescott, Baines, Yakubu, Arteta, Jagielka - so please get Defour and Appiah :D

So from Man Yoo supporter via Sheffield Wednesday to Everton - from which I'll never change.

There are many paths to enlightenment.(y)

watching Everton on the telly on their way to Roterdam. that same year they broadcasted the FA Cup, and everybody was talking about a side that was about to win the treble.

Then my parents bought me a ZX Spectrum and all footy games were about English football... Guess which team I would choose everytime?

Then, came that FA Cup final where McCall scored twice. People were talking about John Barnes. The tv commentator was saying that Trevor Steven was a great player. And I was overwhelmed with McCall's prowess.

So, I think that from that time, when I was 6 or 7, Everton was the team Sporting wasn't allowed to be. Information was very few, at that time.

When I went to college I got to access more info, but Everton was in a very hard period... Bakayoko and Madar were proeminent.
