Kop a load of this – Burnham turns football hooligan
Monkey is certain that culture minister takes a pretty dim view of football hooliganism. But this didn't prevent an outbreak of the very same at Burnham's department for culture, media and sport Crimble drinks last night. Some lout only went and grabbed Sky News reporter Paul Brennan's Liverpool FC scarf – and then stamped on it. And the culprit? Er ... Andy Burnham. Monkey feels the avid Everton fan can justifiably claim extreme provocation.



And in other RS bashing news --

The Premier League most glory supported team is....you guessed it.

- Liverpool's support were confirmed as living the furthest from their stadium.

- Liverpool have the most fans who fly to the match. 8% of Liverpool fans flying to home games.

"Success helps at Liverpool (more than any other club) where 19% of respondents cited this as their reason for first attending a game." (probably more like 60% tbh)

That must leave at least 82% of them getting the ferries across from mainly Ireland and via Scandanavian countries. Try and hear for a scouse accent in Liverpool City Centre when they are playing at home, and you will hard pushed to detect one.

Last time I came over (for the Boro match) there were quite a few on the Copenhagen/Manchester flight. I think they were Swedes and Norwegians (it's not always easy to tell). They certainly weren't Danes. And this was for an away match (I think it was Bolton). Coming back there was the biggest tosser I had ever seen. Red leather Liverpool jacket carrying a bag from the Liverpool store full of merchandise. He took the jacket off to reveal Liverpool top, with badges. He was about 45 years old.

That just about sums up the vast majority of RS fans. Why was his carrier bag full of merchandise? Because he would leave never to return to this part of the world again. Hate going past that shop in town on their home matchdays, why cant they support their own teams? Its no wonder the Scandavian and Irish leagues are so non existent.

I agree. And the Swedish and Danish leagues are not that bad (not too sure about Norway). So why support Liverpool? It just makes no sense to me.

I have to say that you do see a lot of RS supporters out here in Denmark. I never see people walking around in Arsenal or Chelsea [Poor language removed]. You do see a fair few in Man Utd regalia. But they are dwarfed by the amount of grown men wearing Liverpool stuff. It depresses me. Well it doesn't really. :lol:
 
Its all tourism. But we can stand here and say RS are scum because of it. But at the end of the day, they are selling their product all over the world, and they will reap the financial benefits. The fact that they have had clowns running their club almost as bad as our clowns - is the only reason why they are not pushing Man U for commercial bragging rights.

In Chester there was the Everton shop and it was [Poor language removed], [Poor language removed] all in there, it was an empty shell full of shelves and nothing else. It is now the Liverpool shop and I have to say there is not a square inch that is not Liverpool branded.

To say that we have missed the boat on more than one occassion is an understatement. Were always late for the train, stall at the lights, trip over our laces, and bang are head on the low ceiling signs.

No lessons are learnt, but hey we've got a foot in the door in India. Woo Woo.
 

The Danish and Swedish style of play is very akin to the style of the English game so i agree with you that their leagues are of excellent quality. Certainly the National sides are very adequate but support there tends to be isolated in favour of supporting clubs from other continents.
 
It pains me to admit it, but we've got a long way to go before making ground on Liverpool as brand name. You've only got to mention Everton out here to receive a blank stare. But mention Liverpool and everyone's face will light up.
