i always understood he said "people from liverpool", i hear the same thing from scousers directed at mancunians dont get me wrong, but i then find myself defending m/cr. i have grown up atwixt the two and enjoy both places and the people.

football is a different matter though.

Cant remember the fanzine but you are right about the above quote mate ( And Reidy and Halewood)

However my point is the reference is to the Football team. A lot of United fans refer to Scousers but in the sense of Liverpool fans

Man Utd sing "Gary Neville is a manc, he hates scousers"?

Man Utd have a scouser on their bucks, does he hate him?

My guess would be no (even though a lot of people do).

Phil Neville/Tim Howard/Louis Saha I believe now have "something to do with liverpool" but I'm pretty sure he doesn't hate them either.

United fans hate LFC but generally its the club and Liverpool fans not the people of Liverpool
 
Evening Mr. Neville. Good to see you still around mate.
Has to be said, If that quote is true, he possibly should chose his words a bit more carefully. He's probably got a point about the celebration as it's a spare of the moment emotional outburst in an extremely intense setting. However he could have said he couldn't stand LFC (Or the Liverpool clubs for that matter) and kept it on a strictly footballing level.
I'm from Birkenhead so he didn't offend me personally anyway:D
