Uh Oh!

RUMOUR RATING: One star. City are in the market for a left-back and can offer any club any sort of price but why would the England international want to join Mark Hughes's underachieving side after seeing first hand how bad they are this weekend?

It answers its own lazy journo ramblings.

Never in a bunch of Sundays would we sell Lescott for 10m.

Here's my view -

Baines -- Always said he could go. Love him, think he should be our 1st choice LB...but Moyes dont think so and is the only player not playing he could make some money from.

Lescott -- Wouldnt be surprised if he went. Again, wouldnt want him to go but he seems to maybe the type of player to throw his dummy out of the pram because he wants to play CB. Citeh would play him CB IMO with Dunne, could pay £15-£20mill at a push for him and give him a 70-80k a week wage. Moyes wouldnt want to let him go, but he might ask to leave.

Owen -- Maybe, maybe not. Rumours today says he's been offered a heafty paycut at 80k a week. Again too much for us, but its all about if he wants to play football for the team he supported as a kid, play in europe, and at a stable managed club. But he could be waiting for a top 4 club or a Villa, Spurs or Citeh.

Gary Neville -- I'm sure he'd rather go into coaching or just retire all together than play for us.

Larrson -- Gone cold I think. Rumours he wants silly wages and age is a big factor.

Nugent -- Waste of time IMO. Have more change or Jukebox or Baxter making more of an impact than Nugent. He'll be there to make up the numbers. Reported as not wanting to leave Pompy anyway. BUT... probably has more of a chance of coming that most rumoured. He'll give his all and (to my knowledge) rarely injured.

Mike what worries me is if they offer to give him a massive rise in pay I rate Joleon but he might be tempted with a 300% rise and the promise of great signings to follow both of which they could offer if it suits them,I read somewhere that was the plan blow other teams wages out the water for super stars maybe it was [Poor language removed] but who knows?.

It's not just about he left back being injured either. If Baines leaves and say Jags or Yobo is out for a few games, Lescott would have to fill in for that position too so I can't see DM letting him go especially with the lovely Nuno out for the rest of the season.

As for Owen. Well, he lives locally, his stables is just outside Malpas and all his family are local. He could save a few bob by selling the chopper though I suppose he would want to keep that for the racing. Can't see him coming to us somehow.

if i remember rightly , man utd payed 28 million for rio ferdinand.
that was years ago too , when the market was not so inflated.

going by that measure , man city can stick there 10 million up there backside. 28- 35 million is the going rate for a young first team key player and international of lescotts quality imo.

That's the way I see it.

Lescott has been moaning about not playing centre back. If Citeh come sniffing offering him to play CB and he's interested...Moyes cant really do much apart from say "he's not for sale."

But if Lescott is the one that wants to leave there's nothing we can do apart from squeeze every penny from them as possible IMO.

I just said i cant see it at the price quoted, if they make an offer that turns our head, say 20m, well every1 has a price, not that i think we could replace him for that figure, but it would allow us to strengthen other areas. I wouldnt sell any player in our current squad for less than 10m, they all have a value to OUR squad that is almost priceless.
And yes i even include Neville.

Moyes has built a wondeful squad full of players who can play different postions, i wouldnt want to see any of them leave.

Its sad to think how far down the ladder we are .not blaming Kenwright or Moyes ,but years ago it would have been a joke to think of any one being tempted away:(

Its the way of modern football, Gary Neville is the last of a dying breed, 1 club players who play with their heart and not for the money. But saying that i think we have a few players within the squad who would fall into that bracket.

I just dont think Lescott is happy playing LB and if he got the chance to move, double or even triple his wages and play at CB, he would jump. I dont blame him, its gonna be a big few years at City, i wouldnt blame any footballer to want to be part of something big.

But i cant see City ever winning the League, its not just about money. Chelsea managed it because they are a big club in London, City are a 2nd rate team in Manchester, good luck with getting top class players.

Hughes is gonna buy quality recognised Premiership players from other clubs outside the top 4 because he knows they can hack the PL, can be lured by the Citeh mint and in 3 years time maybe they'll be top 4. Players rumoured to go - Santa Cruz, Diaara, Upson etc all established prem players in teams that either need cash with players who have good value on the market. Blackburn, Pompey, West Ham will flog them for £15-£20mill a pop.

But what Citeh wont do is be able to buy superstars like Kaka etc...it just wont happen. Its like Alex Fergie said - they went for 5 players in the summer, only got 1 who wanted to leave Madrid for £32million...and now they're 4th from bottom. So him and Citeh sniffing around Lescott aint too far from reality.

Hughes wont be there next season IMO.

Jo was rumoured for a loan. I hope we don't look at him he looks awful. Benjami is going to be injuried I would have preferred him. I just don't see anyone that tickles my fancy that would be remotely available. I can't see Cardiff parting with Ledley cheap. Wolves the same with their prize. Lescott was a bargain from them and he hasn't missed a game with us. So a dip in the championship could be the best option money wise.
