Don't know if it has already been mentioned yet, but thought Segundo Castillo was excellent against City. Tired a bit towards the end but got stuck in and apart from one time when he gave the ball away he showed excellent passing ability. Also got stuck in aswell, gave us a bit more bite in the middle allowing others to do the flair stuff

Hope to see him get a run of games now

I have no doubts he's a decent player. Strong, good on the ball and can tackle. His problem is he plays the holding role like he's in Europe, he backs off. In England it's all about closing down and that's something he's going to have the learn. His positioning needs work aswell.

He is only 5 games in though to be honest, he also hasn't played for ages so he's bound to be rusty. The likes of Saha and Fellaini took time to settle and find there way so maybe it's the same with Segundo.

One thing his presence in the team did do is give the likes of Arteta, Osman and Pienaar the freedom to get forward. Castillo was sitting back and giving them the cover they needed. Exactly what Carsley used to do when he was here.

He'll probably be dropped if Saha is fit though to be honest.

I liked Castillo first when he played a few games (was for example relatively impressed with his debut against Stoke), but today in my opinion he was far from being good and he was definitely our weakest link. Bad positioning, some really bad passes, and generally I had a feeling that Arteta was saving his ass a few times during the game.
Needs to do much, much better, but I believe he can do it, if he would get a few games run.

and that 'foul', what a boss challenge. Halsey is a tit.

But I agree he looked solid in the main

He looked off the pace today with his passing in particular, but that's probably to be expected given the time off he's had. We had our best midfield performance of the season yesterday though so that alone would be reason enough to keep him in for me.

I have to agree here. He looked well off the pace. Infact i thought he was poor for the most. To many times when they broke it was because of him, was very undisaplined yesterday. But benifit of the doubt here, its his first game in a long time. Wether he'll get anouther chance.....?

could he be going back in jan ? cos he's a loan isnt he ? hope he gets a run tbh as i reckon he'll just keep getting better, if ecuador are ever on then watch as he plays ace for them, showswhat we will get in time.

Looked rusty in the 1st half but improved dramactically in the 2nd and ending up looking good

I only caught the first half and I thought he was our worst player. I'm glad he improved in the second half. Lack of playing time can't have a great effect on him, particularly as this is his new club.

As HB said, and as I did during the game in the match thread - he did look rusty at patches, an example when he gave a pathetic ball to Man City who broke and SWP hit the bar but I do like the look of Castillo. I like to think he offers a bit of balance to our midfield.

That pass really sticks out in my mind. It could have cost us the match.

It was a bad pass and luckily it didn't cost us. But even our best players make bad passes. He made up for that pass with some great tackles and headers later in the game though.

Can we afford to play a still rusty dm against Chelsea, dont wanna be giving the ball away in deep areas against them.

Or can we afford not to play a dm against Chelsea?

Think he was just bought in to make up the numbers yesterday to be honest so unless Moyes was very impressed and we dont have a striker then i don't think he will play.

I would rather see rodwell play DM, i think he has everything and will deffo be one of the best midfielders in the prem.
