Everton aren’t any better, they’re just luckier

The real issues are do we as fans feel more confident in our team and do the players feel more confident in getting results. I can't speak for the players or even the other fans, but I feel more confident this year than I did last year..........

Against the smaller teams yes, against the teams with the quicker and busier decent strikers, no.

Everton 'lucky', I've heard it all now, we are one of the unluckiest teams in the league and have been for a very long time, if we got a tenth of the luck Liverpool get we would be in the champions league every season.

The Metro ?
Comes as no surprise to me,my brother in law works in the media and I know who's behind this bit of gutter press journalism.
Shame on you !!

Beat Chelsea already this season.

Yep and lost to City already this season, not saying we're not in with a shout, just saying I am less confident against the likes of City, Spurs and co if they defend from the front, pressure on Jags and Distin with decent strikers will hurt us, not really the way Chelsea play.
Moyes against City and Spurs were probably his best games as well, hard to expect more from Martinez to be fair.

The thing that's frustrating at the moment is that even though we have done so well, we only sit in 6th position. Southampton will most likely start to fade away soon and then it will be a battle between the expected top 7 for the top 7 places.

Really is hard to predict. If we get some favourable results at the weekend we could be right up there. Arsenal have got to beat the ****e!

Why will Southampton drop off and not us? The rest look at us the same way. The way we look at Liverpool and say they won't be title challengers.

Just a force of habit, they could very well be like WBA last season. Who were as high as 3rd for a good while last season.

Anyway, ultimately when you look at it, Everton, Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea, City, Spurs and United all have better squads than Southampton. So it's quite natural to assume they'll fade out as the season goes on.

Absolute bloody bitter nonsense isn't it? Totally disregarding the fact that after about three games we had had more shots and more possession that any other team. Had we won those first three games when we completely outplayed the opposition we would be top of the league. Still, even if that was the case, some moron would be harping on about Moyes laying the foundations...blah...blah....blah.
For the first time in years we have played some attractive football with pundits describing us as outstanding in some games and I reckon some Man U fans are wondering what they did to deserve the tag team of Moyes and Round.....Man U look pretty ordinary suddenly despite still having a title winning squad and we look improved, and still people write articles like this.

If this lad really is an Evertonian I am just not getting what he has to be so bitter about. Why should we play down just being 2 points better off than last season when this time last year Evertonians were to a man delighted with the start we made! If someone offered me a 2 point improvement on the best start in the last 8 years I would have snapped their hand off. Also why should there be any expectations that after 9 games we should see a major difference in the play? We are only a couple of first teamers different to this time last year ffs!

If you want to make a genuine comparison with last year give it another 6 months and see where we are. Luck has nothing to do with we're you sit in May. For me I fancy us to be better off though. The main reason being we look more capable of holding leads. When in front this season the shape of the team hasn't changed. Even against Chelsea we looked comfortable in the last 10 mins because we didn't just say here's 2 banks of 4 come and break us down. It's just better game management. However that doesn't mean we are better in defense (we have the same defenders ffs), it's just better tactics.

Agree with all but 2 points there.

1. Luck plays a massive part in where we finish.
2. The keeping our shape whilst generally true is wrong in the one instance you chose to highlight. A small thing but we took off Jelavic, Naismith and Mirallas and put on 1 like for like, an extra CM and another CB. Normally you would be right because he normally keeps to the same and just swaps like for like, but the Chelsea one is a bad example because we finished with 5 at the back, no striker and another central mid..

Also

For the first time in years we have played some attractive football

Really?

It's pretty obvious isn't it. They aren't a top 7 team over a whole season. When was the last time they finished as high as that, or ahead of us? We have the team capable of coming 7th or above and have done regularly and have a better team than them.

They won't keep this up.

Listen the only reason you get luck is he who dares wins - i.e. Do not sit back on a 1-0 score line! -urm remember DM or just forget him he was a loser! or he just got us draws was it 12 last season!

Yeah but that only reason for getting luck you've put there, doesn't explain scoring 4 perfectly good goals in last seasons 2-2 draw against Newcastle for example, or a season long injury to Gibson this season for Martinez though. Luck is luck, you can influence it, you can cover for it, but you can't prevent or create it.

Also that pointless Moyes jibe at the end, doesn't explain how our ex manager who is so defensive, won 17 games, and lost only 9, assuming the 12 draws figure you mentioned was correct, unless your suggesting Moyes was who dares wins.
Pretty much twice the wins than losses, and yet he's a loser?

I wouldn't be at all surprised of Ihaters and the bloke whom wrote that article are one and the same person.

I really wouldn't.
