Do we need a new striker?

I think Anichebe has improved this season, but no way is he good enough for us to be confident to use him as our 1st choice, but we have no choice.

We cant keep on making excuses for him and Vaughan, theyre both in their early twenties and this is the moment for Anichebe to step up and take his chance rather than being Mr Cameo.

It's not really making excuses for him, mate. He really isn't experienced enough to play week in week out. He's been used sparingly for the last 2/3 years.

You could say Agbonlahor does it but he's been a regular for three years. In terms of experience he's miles ahead of Vic and Vaughan.

I hope he does step up but it's not going to be easy, especially as he'll be playing upfront on his own which is very hard.

His consistency is why he's behind Agbonlahor mate, he's blown hot and cold. He's looking like he's developed a bit recently so it'll be interesting to see if he can trouble opposition defences for a full 90 minutes now.

Guys let's get it serious - Vagner Love is not coming, and definitely not on loan. He is very hot right now, has a great season behind him, why CSKA would allow him to go on loan. Especially now, when they secured their place for Champions League qualifications next season. They will either keep him or sell him for a big money. There is nothing between...

Cahill upfront might work, plug the void he leaves in midfield with Rodwell.

Vic can come on for the final 15 minutes to give him a rest.

That wont stop various websites peddling [Poor language removed] and convincing the melts amongst us that he's coming.

I agree, theres no way he'll come. Ditto Podolski.

Agbonlahor would be the same if he started once every ten games. Agbonlahor has had the luxury of playing week in week out which is why he's ahead of Victor and Jimmy Vaughan.

It will be interesting, his hold up play has improved big time. We just need to support him like we did today.

2 more names:
1) I believe that City will spend big during the winter transfer window, so maybe we should look at Benjani? If they will get some strikers, he will be out of favour. He isn't on Yak or Saha level, but he's solid, can score and works well in both 4-4-2 and 4-5-1 system.
2) I remember his name being mentioned during the summer and he got a negative response, but I am personally quite high on John Utaka and IMHO he can definitely do better than he is doing for Portsmouth, especially with Redknapp/Adams using him mostly as winger... which he is not.
And please, don't start with Nugent, he's crap...

I think with that midfield we shouldnt be short of a goal or two and support. Arteta, Osman, Fellaini, Pienaar and Cahill are all offensive minded players with goals in them.

We'll get smashed all over the show by Villa next week now.

Podolski would be perfect - can play as striker, but he would also do a good job as left midfielder, if we would have Yak and/or Saha healthy. But even if we bid, I'm pretty sure it won't be enough and some other team(s) offer(s) more...
