What people are ignoring about Kone is in his 5 years at Sevilla he was loaned out twice and his 40 appearances were not all starts and came staggered between his loan spells. He has scored goals at PSV, Levante and Roda and is a good finisher. I have faith in Kone. This is a player that has scored goals to beat Real Madrid. People using the Kone signing to attack Martinez are being childish.

McCarthy will be Martinez's first big signing. Him and Barkley and Gibson will keep us strong in CM, an area people are calling on us to improve. Barkley is 19 and McCarthy is 23 in November. I like others hope we don't invest £15m because I don't see his price going up. I think Wigan are bluffing and we should make a final offer that is on our terms. Whelan is playing hard-ball but will let him leave like he let Martinez leave.

I will make up my mind about this (potential) signing when he has donned the royal blue officially and has played a couple of months for us. I just wish we were looking for a decent forward as we don't have any.
