The thing with McCarthy is that he is now in the Championship playing for a team unlikely to get promotion, so next January or even next summer his price will drop significantly

I'm just not keen on us looking at wigan....a relegated team for players.
I'm going to wigan v Middlesbrough on Sunday though tickets are only 15 quid its a game of footie ha ha.
Ill watch mccarthy properly for the first time.

Name them then please...

I'm not doubting what you say I just can't think off the top of my head.

Also, where any of them as good as Fellaini ?? as that was the point my post was making.

Not all exact replica's but their fees represent the market - my point was about the kind of fee being talked about for McCarthy i.e. circa £15m

Navas - £14.9m
Paulinho - £17m
Giaccherini £6.5m
Medel £11m
Capoue £9m
Chadli £7m

It's not though.

This lad is linked with us a lot and it's just people saying they don't want him or don't see him as value for money.

Admitedly this thread is not really needed, but it's nothing new is it?

There are plenty of Johnny Foreigniola's who would get the same treatment. Charles N'Zogbia for example did about 3 years ago.

It's not just people saying that though is it mate.... it's people slating martinez and the board again before anything has even happened..... some people just love to hate I guess. For the record, Mcarthy would not be my first choice to spend 10-12 million on but I believe he is a very good player and has previously worked with Martinez... if the rumours are to be believed then Martinez likes him and rates him... historically managers who move clubs take some players with them...players they trust and know can do a job.

Hopefully, we dont need him now then.

The question is would you rather have fellaini or no Fellaini but McCarthy Alderweireld and Moses.
It has to be the 3 players for me and the only way it will happen is if we sell Fellaini unfortunately

Navas - £14.9m right winger
Paulinho - £17m very good player.... what wages is he on ?
Giaccherini £6.5m honestly can't say I know anything about him
Medel £11m is he as good as fellaini
Capoue £9m not seen much of him.... is he as good as fellaini
Chadli £7m
he's not a central defensive midfielder

No it isn't, it's people giving their opinion on McCarthy being talked about as the direct replacement for Fellaini.

No-one's slated Martinez or the board, those who don't rate the player are saying that we'll be weaker if he's viewed as the direct replacement.

WHY ARE UTD CHASING FELLAINI THEN LADS

WHY DONT THEY CHASE MCARTHY IF HE IS THAT GOOD.

WORK THAT OUT THEN YOU NUMB SKULLS.

Because Fellaini is conditioned to play in a Moyes set up and McCarthy is conditioned to play in a Bob set up. On top of that we'll get a lot of change from the deal. Not exactly rocket science.

True true.

I've always said that if Martinez thinks he's good enough then that's fine with me.

He obviously knows better than anyone posting in here.

Read back at the posts in the numerous threads about this.... people slating Martinez transfer policy and saying they will seriously question his management if he goes back for wigan players and spends x amount on x player... it's tedious and repetetive through the threads.

McCarthy is going to be Martinez's Joe Allen.

It'd be a lazy signing imo, there's better quality & value out there, than an over priced, over rated, fairly bog standard CM player like McCarthy.

That's Exactly how we feel with Moyes going after Fellaini and Baines. Just seems unambitious.
