Leighton Baines

I just want us to hurry up and sort everything out, I hope our lack of transfer activity isnt us waiting to see if baines goes first

Roberto playing his hand well here - the board daren't screw with him from the get-go which means either he gets to keep the player(s) he says (and the board claim) we don't need to sell or we get absolutely top dollar for Leighton. It still comes down to what the club want as I believe Baines won't move without the club throwing in the towel.

Fair comment Danny.....Top six or above would be brilliant for Martinez in his first season. At the same time I think Moyes is on a hiding to nothing at United anyway....if they struggle to stay in the top three or four, the OT crowd will turn on him quickly.

Definitely, he'll be under threat by Christmas if it's not looking like they'll make a challenge for the title.

With regards to Martinez, everyone's just got to be patient and accept we might have to take a step back to go forwards in the long term. I'd be happy if he keeps us top 10, even anything below that wouldn't concern me providing we aren't embroiled in a relegation battle and there's signs that the team is in transition for the better.

Sorry, but I'm looking for Europe...this squad's been gaggin' to have the reins taken off it for a few seasons now. We've lost more games than we should of because we didn't impose our quality. Score and then sit back? [Poor language removed] that! COYB

Fair enough, mate. I just hope people give him time if it doesn't work out like that.

If we are to get anywhere near Europe then it's pivotal Baines stays.

Only thing that concerns me if we are to keep them, then we need to extend their contracts, end of this season and they will only have a year left and can't let them be getting away for £5-£10 mil less than they would go this summer

Looks like he is going to me, for the simple reason that it was made pretty public last week that this week he would be offered a new contract and that just does not seem to have happened and that may be because the board think he will go and him turning a contract down would de-value him. Thats just the way it seems to me, May be being a bit of a pessimist.

Because of international duties he is yet to return to training - he does so on Monday. I think things will be much much clearer then

needs to sign a new contract this summer - Martinez's first job should be getting the board to offer one as it'd give the place a massive lift. Either that or we know Baines will want to go in which case we need to be getting £18m+

I see what you are saying but there is no way that contract talks happen between Baines and Roberto Martinez its the board and his agent, the thing that worries me more is that so many respected journo's/sources said last week that he would be offered a new one this week.
