Leighton Baines

Would this be a good move for Moyes? Most United fans I know would all say Baines is better than Evra, but they all love Evra as he 'gets it'. With Moyes getting rid of influential backroom staff would it be a good idea for him to keep an important player happy.

Another reason that Moyes might want to get Baines away from Everton is because he knows that it would initially weaken us. A new manager at Everton who is prepared to take the game to any other team in the Prem is not what Moyes wants. He knows the potential at Everton that will ignite with just a few signings and he doesn't want Everton fighting it out at the top of the league. If we hold on to Felli and Baines, and get in the extra squad depth that Martinez is obviously looking for, we will be a big threat to the current top four.

I like the positivity but Moyes is on a hiding to absolutely nothing at United if he considers us a threat. If we finish in the top 6 again next then that's one hell of an achievement and I'll give Martinez all the credit he deserves.

Now that R M as gone public stating how important Leighton is to Everton I just can't see Kenwright selling him
Surely he he will have to back Martinez

While I don't believe for one second that Moyes hasn't personally asked Baines if he fancies the move, I do think Baines will happily stay put if Everton insist he's not for sale.

He just want to get them to 40pts then see from there.

1; He MIGHT be an EFC Icon of TODAY 2 ; He MIGHT EVEN SIGN 3 ; Lescott Baines WILL LEAVE by Aug 31 4 ; Just THE WAY OF THE WORLD , Homies

I haven't spoken to Cabby in like 2 years, possibly more...I got on quite well with him on here. But that is a sh*te attitude and really disappointing from ANY Evertonian. It doesn't matter if it's true or not, accepting the sale of a top class footballer shows a distinct lack of cajones and the fighting spirit I love so much about staunch Blues. Disappointed, like.

I seriously had to think about this first...but I'll join you in that challenge.
Yes! So that's two extra shirts they'll sell if he stays. Now granted we don't get any money from the sale of shirts thanks to our deal BUT I think if we can get one more person to agree to buy that ridiculous badge if he stays I think it might be the tipping point!

Let us pray...

Fair comment Danny.....Top six or above would be brilliant for Martinez in his first season. At the same time I think Moyes is on a hiding to nothing at United anyway....if they struggle to stay in the top three or four, the OT crowd will turn on him quickly.

Depending on signings utd could well of finished 3rd/4th next season even with fergie in charge. Moyes ends up 3rd behind city and chelsea, it will be all deemed his fault!

Hiding to nothing, but one he had to take.
