Didnt say i was happy with it, id rather be going for rooney or Higuain but that aint happening so for now ill just be a realist.

But ill be a realist that until proven to be ****, will give players and the manager the benefit of all doubt if thats ok with every other moaning **** on here.
We sign an aging, average striker who has just been relegated and you don't expect fans to be moaning? It's all well and good giving the benefit of the doubt but when youve got very little money to spend because of our joke of a board then blowing what I'd imagine to be a good chunk of our budget on said striker is not a good move.

What part of not standing on your feet and fighting for every chance shows excellent effort?

Vic was actually putting effort in. Defenders would crack him and he'd keep going till he had to go down

Jelavic did no such thing. One touch and his was over

Terrible attitude

Both scored 8 goals in total.

One theory you might derive from this is that the player with the "terrible attitude" who is woefully out of form must therefore be more talented than the player with the great attitude in the best form of his career.

And for the record, Jela's reaction to scoring against Spurs at Christmas, and against City after coming on as a sub, don't look to me to be the actions of a player with a terrible attitude.

I would be happy with Kone. He impressed when I watched him.
Would Roberto bring back the 4-4-2 of old and play both Jela & Aruna?
Hopefully both on form banging them in. Would be rather tasty.

It doesn't matter what I thought last season as that has now gone. Fact is Jelavic was found out, he's as bad a diver as Suarez as well, Anichibe is a waste of space and Kone is average at best.
That strike force could not give anyone optimism but if you're happy with it good for you.

WHOA.

Hold it right there partner. There's a limit.

It seems you are either a supporter of Jelavc or Kone or Anichebe on here but you you cannot support all three.
All three are different in how they play and extra competition will hopefully make all three into better players.

I think Jelavic will be better next season, last season his confidence was destroyed ,he couldn't kick the ball out of his own way, but he tried hard and can score goals again.Anichebe offers us strength and power but will probably never score more than 10 goals a season anyway.
Kone can score goals, has strength and pace and can also play wide if necessary.
It seems to me that we have three strikers who will put pressure on each other and compliment each other at the same time.
In twelve months time or less I think Chris Long will be knocking on the first team door as well.

David Moyes for all his many strengths had a dismal record with strikers, lets see what Martinez does with them and while we are at it lets see how many RVP scores for UTD.

We missed out on Europe last season due to having an out of form Jelavic and a poor ( in my opinion ) replacement , Anichebe, who couldn't score in a brothel...... a few draws could have been turned into wins if we had a striker who could stick the ball in the net.... If Kone comes in and gets us them goals next season and we do actually qualify for Europe then the fee will have paid for itself..... I have absolutely no qualms about bringing in Kone.

there is no evidence he is average and the fact that his team have been relegated just indicates why he may be decent value as a striker still in the prem who is actually performing decently will cost a lot money more than that, and we need one. I think the fact we may have spent this money could also indicate that we have more to spend. until proven wrong on these things I don't see the point in moaning

who should we sign then?

Someone who would improve the team, with some resale value if he does well.

If we're not going to get an established player like Negredo who would improve the team, then we should go for someone with the potential to come good and make us money on a resale - Jelle Vossen or the like.

I don't think Kone is either - poor goalscoring record, wrong age, an underwhelming, unimaginative signing that feels like a manager doing his old club a favour with the fee.

Again, hope I'm wrong, can't know for certain, but that's my initial instinct.

it will be interesting to see what other strikers go for 5 mill this window, i reckon they will prob be alot worse than kone..

Kone scored more last season than anyone at our club did he not?

So why should i moan if weve just improved our squad?

Unless theres someone out there that you know about who is 23, will get you 25 a season, is willing to come to everton, willing to accept MAX 70k a week and available for £6M???

In which case, give RM a ring, you and everyone else on here apparantly should be a chief scout for a top european football club.

Everyone is going to pay over the odds this year due to the fact everyone is aware about the additional TV money, regardless of when clubs actually receive it.

Jelavic is more talented than Vic, but Vic worked harder last season IMO, hence why I'm okay with him and not with Jelavic

I rate effort over everything else. Just the attitude I have

And diving is a terrible trait and we shouldn't defend one of our players for doing it

Jelavic goes down easy because he lacks the right attitude to stand and fight

We're not going to get a striker much better for 5 million realistically

As long as he's not the only striking reinforcement we make I'll be pleased
