Kone Signs on 3 Year Deal

He wouldn't be my choice, mainly because of his age. When you think that Moses is 8 years younger, has potential to improve further and could be available for another few million it doesn't make much sense to me.

Having said that I do think he would improve our first team for a year or 2.

I would love to see us play 3 upfront with

Mirallas LW, Kone/Jelavic ST, McGeady RW.

What an exciting trio we could potentially have!

His 'off form' period was an entire season and double the length of his 'in form' period, though.

Let's see what happens when he has a manager who says "hey lad, float around the box, look for space and we'll get the ball to you to slot".

Instead of "OY YOU BOY, YOU BETTER BE RUNNING THOSE WEE CHANNELS ALL DAY OR I'LL GLASS YER MAR" or whatever Moyes did to him over last summer.

Let's see indeed. I do think Moyes has got something to do with it - but was Moyes not telling him this from day 1?

He spent on average more time in the six yard box per game last season than he did the season before

Johnny Heitinga will be made up anyway just incase we draw Wigan again in the cup next year he will be saved from another public arse raping!

Kone has 30 goals from his last two seasons from playing in the two biggest leagues on the planet.

Watching him against us last season, especially in the 2-2 at the DW I saw a strong, quick player who could finish, Heitinga had such a rough time against him he was hauled off at half time...but then again anyone with two legs and a torso could shake Heitinga off him last season.

Not to pan to cliché but with the likes of Pienaar, Mirallas and Fellaini playing off of him I think he'd do well here.

We're absolutely dire up front as always and we won't be throwing £14m on Negredo any time soon, lets face it. The likes of Kone will work for now, still think we need a centre mid though, even with Fellaini possibly staying.

I'm really unsure about giving him another chance. How he went from so boss, to so bad was so weird.

He spent a lot of time on the wings looking for the ball, hard to slot from there tbh. Can't imagine seeing Victor being selected ahead of him would've done anything for his confidence either, he's done nothing in his career ffs. If we're talking resale values then he should be shipped right out of the gaff, he's young so based on all the views in this thread he should cover the Kone fee, if we could get Nigeria to pick him again we could get some wedge for him.

Not getting this about Distin, his fee at the time was almost like a freebie, Bosmans wouldve cost more in fact, and as for not good value ? anyone saying that really has an opinion that is irrelevant, as he has been consistently good and shut out many a top striker, with many of them reckoning him to be 1 of the toughest defenders they've faced. As Dave said, the points he's saved us, thus increasing Prem money have more than paid his Transfer Fee & Wages.

As For Kone, I'm sure Berto knows more about him than any of us, and also about how he fits in to the way he'll be wanting us to play. He could Elevate us.

I'll be pulling 1 of these down when I see onbe, may even drop 'em an email to ask for 1.

I'd be more interested in seeing:

Kone-----Jelavic-----Mirallas

I honestly think Jelavic could come good again next season if the team is built around him.

That stat means nothing in isolation. Need to see his time spent in the channels, types of delivery, set piece involvement and whether it is in a correct ratio given he only played a half season the year before.

I don't think he had a chance to. He came in from Rangers, was playing a certain way, no time to train him to adapt so the side used him as a focal point to his strengths immediately, which yielded results.

Over the summer, I think Moyes integrated him into the teams tactical game and he suffered.

Imagine if Martinez came in and told Baines not to go past the half way line; people would wonder why his assists and cross rate has dried up but it'd be completely obvious. Same thing with Jelavic last year IMO, but I know people disagree with me.

It has nothing to do with form and everything to do with his piss poor attitude, the fact he's always offside and the fact he goes down like a sack of excrement when faced with anything more powerful than a light breeze

I think a lot of that can be down to a drop in confidence.

When you are on a high, you shrug off those things and get on with it.

There is no doubting IMO he was a bit short on confidence last season, it affected his otherwise clinical finishing.
