Player Valuation: £950k
Todays People claims that Steven Defour, who we all should know about has issued a come and get me plea to Premier League clubs. It says that Arsenal, Villa and Sunderland have all kept tabs on him, and he could be available for 8 million. Would be a quality signing if we could get him in IMO. He was probably the best player over the two legs against us, and reminded me of a certain Joao Moutinho. Get all over it Moyes!!

I thought he played well, looks a good young prosepct and a lot of knowledgeable european experts like (Graham Hunter) say hes going to be the real deal the best belgian player since Schifo! Dalmat looked good also though surprisingly i thought Baines restricted him more in the second leg then Lescott did in the first. In fact a lot of their players looked really good prospects.

Wasn't it Defour who Moyes claimed should have been sent off in the return match?

It was mate, but its a compliment really when your singled out by an opposition manager, it shows that your influenceing the play. I actually thought he was going to punch the ref when he booked him the first time, maybe the ref did too and thats why he didnt give him the second yellow.

Looked stronger though mate, i would say he would be more effective centraly centrally more durable and tenacious, but i know we disagree on that point.

More tenacious yes, stronger I don't think so to be honest.

Arteta's strength is very underrated, his ability to keep the ball under control and shield the ball at the same time is excellent. He's got good upper body strenght.

The lightweight claims are bollocks, this gets levelled at him because he takes a tumble and is world class at winning freekicks. He goes down because he wants to go down, when he stays on his feet he can compete with alot of players.

In terms of style of play they are similar in my opinion, both are centre midfielders. Arteta is a play maker, he's more suited to central areas in my opinion. In alot of games he's wasted outwide because he doesn't get involved enough.

he wants to go to the premier league to play for honours, no chance of getting him

Ill conceade that mate! But i still think he would receive far to much heat in the centre. The last time i remember him playing there we got smashed 7-1 against Arsenal. I wouldnt mind trying it but im not confident it would work but hey what do i know. For me he gets far less heat out wide well he used to anyway with Manny and Pienaar in the side now hes easily identifable, if anything i think Pienaar would be the more successfull option centre. I think we definitely need a more creative force centrally. I think part of Arteta apparent lack of form presently is that he is far too identifiable as Evertons main creative force present.

Play Mikel in his natural position and I'm sure he'd be more consistent. It's like putting Fabregas outwide and expecting him to dominate games left, right and centre. It wouldn't happen in a million years.

The Spainish side play him out on the left dont they? He's still [Poor language removed] hot there too hahaha.

I'd like to see Pienaar in the middle, I've always said that. I think he'd be better than Osman in there but I do think Arteta is the best central creative midfielder we have at the club.

Arteta keeps hold of it, you can trust him to keep hold of it without losing it. That alone pushes our team forward and gets the midfield into better attacking positions. Pienaar is similar to Osman, he's a pass and move player. He's not going to get a hold of things and control. He can't control the pace of the game whereas Arteta can.

I think Arteta is good on the wing at Home, it's a smaller pitch and we get him in the final third alot more. Away from home we play alot deeper and opposition teams man mark him. He doesn't get into good attacking positions and he can't control a game from a wider position.

He moved centrally against Hull who are a physical team and for the second half he was excellent, he pulled the strings and got the likes of Saha and Yak into good positions. His through ball to Saha was top quality.

I think he's wasted outwide alot of the time, he's stuck to the touchline where he can't get into the game. You need a player like him involved for 90 minutes.

The good thing about having Arteta, Osman and Pienaar is they can all interchange so hopefully Arteta will be more involved. Drifting between right, left and centre.
