Will Everton break their transfer record this Summer?

We had one of the smallest squads in the premier league LAST season, since then we have lost 3 more players. We needed more players before we lost those 3, and one of those covered about 4 positions for us too. I'd love for us to go out and get a top player, but i think we need to adress the depth of the squad more importantly.

We have to start using our younger players instead of buying average players. Barkley is better than Naismith,Duffy (if used more) should be ready soon, also Kennedy,McAleny,Vellios and junior can be our squad fillers.

20 mil investment is that is needed IMO. Fer 8.6 mil, Negrado 15 mil. The only player I would sell is Heitinga, should easily get 4 mil for him. Then with the wages saved currently surely players like Alcarez, Malouda and even Arshavin should be considered.

You are right, he only cost 8million, I thought they spent double that on him tbh, and I'd have said that he was well worth that figure.

Bargains can be had, but sometimes you have to pay to ensure quality. Our investment in Fellaini proves this.

if 15 mill guaranteed another Fellaini then we would prob spend it, but I think its less likely to now than back then, and there were plenty of times when it looked like it wouldn't work out for Fellaini, its only players who have dome it consistently for years at top level who guarantee anything, and there is not even enough of those to go round for likes of Man U and Madrid. am sure Chelsea thought 50 mill on Torres guaranteed something

All true points. However Torres had been crap for two years prior to his move to Chelsea, I couldn't believe it when they paid 50 million for him.

My main point was that Everton have a long and indeed recent history of paying big money for players, and that given the big increase in revenue from the TV deals it can easily happen again. We aren't Wigan Athletic, so we shouldn't be thinking a 9 million pound transfer fee is beyond us, especially whilst West Ham are making 14 million pound bids for players like Negrado.

our main issue is up top we need to spend about £12 mil on a striker
a RM and put Mirallas on the left salvio sounds good also mertens and moses £8 mil
would then flog jela and heitinga and use the money to bring in a CB like Lescott and if any cash left someone like mccarthy to replace osman

I think like most people in here I would like to see us sign 3 or 4 players to improve the squad overall, rather than one "big" signing, for me the squad is light on numbers and we just lost 3 players.
I think we need an experienced defender, as cover for jags and distin ( I think heitinga will go)
I also think we need a winger who will challenge pienaar and mirralas, someone like Tom Ince or Scott Sinclair, we have been linked with Moses, but £10m for him is too much.
I also think we need someone who can play in defensive midfield when Gibson is not there.
We also need a reserve keeper when Howard is out, as Mucha has now gone.
That would do for starters....

we need a powerful presence in the midfield some one tall box to box like fer or even capoue from toulouse then we need a goal scoring striker I like aubameyang from st Etienne or bony from vitesse these two positions shud be priority then some squad players maybe alcaraz on a free is one

Squad is too small to spend our meager budget on a potential/current superstar.

Too many question marks over centre midfield, wing and up front.

Everton have always spent big money on players.

We'll buy players this season I'm confident of that and I think we will break our transfer record to be honest because I think Fellaini will be sold.

If Fellaini stays then I still think we will get at least two so called big money signings (6m to 8m installments type signing) due to TV money.

When Bill told Martinez he'd be getting a few quid, you do know he meant it literally dont you?

If there's any truth in the rumblings of Rooney wanting to come back, then we'd have to break our transfer record for that. IMO he'd be about the only player it'd be worth us risking that amount on
