Seamus Coleman isn't up to it.

Bill, you won't like this, but you're wrong here mate.

Coleman isn't perfect. Far from it. But if you're telling me Hibbert has never made these mistakes I'd be worried about you.

Coleman offers a hell of a lot more going forward than Hibbert. And they are both as bad as each other at the back.

So it's picking the best of a bad bunch.

Nah mate, it's those who think Coleman DEFENDS better than Hibbert who are wrong. By a country mile. No other way to say it. If they want to be willfully ignorant, then I can't help that.

They both make mistakes but when I want my club to "keep the ball out of the back of our net" then Hibbert is who I want in back, not Coleman.

...just confirmed what I already knew about him. ****e defender. But yeah, he sure can get forward in dangerous positions and whip in good crosses. Lot of good that did us today.

Hibbert can't get back soon enough.

I don't ever want to see Coleman at right back again. Either right mid or on the bench as an impact sub.

So let me get this straight, Coleman has a few bad games (I agree, really bad today), you say he's a sh*te defender and he has to be dropped

But you defend Howard to no end when he has multiple shockers and gets abuse!

Kin' ell Bill!

I believe the appropriate response is "laughing here".

When we are struggling at the bottom and giving away 3 goals every game we can get Hibbert back cause yes, he's probably a slightly better pure defensive player.

But after we've been crying out for an attacking full back on the right to add balance to our team for years, when we finally get one who has noticebly improved our attacking play which is part way responsible for us sitting in 5th come November 17 not 12th people want him out because he makes mistakes.

So did Hibbert.

Agreed.

Hibbert settles our defence. He may not be the best when trying to push forward but you cant fault him for his defending. Even with his lack of pace his timing when putting in challenges, tracking back etc is quite good
This is more selective memory kicking in. There've been countless time where Hibbert's been slaughtered at right back. I've been crapping myself loads of games watching teams attack down our right flank with Hibbert in the team. I prefer Neville there personally

Bill, I'll tell you why Hibbert is marginally more secure as a defender than Coleman: he barely sets foot over the halfway line.

Coleman may not be the answer for us at RB for the future, but Hibbert is not the answer in the short term. Modern FBs have to get forward, and he just cant...not consistently and not to any effect.

Only took a few posts for someone to bring up Howard. Gotta give it to some people They're as predictable as clockwork. I defend Howard when it warrants it. When he has a clanger, he has a clanger and no defense. Simple.

I'm not convinced that full backs are defenders in the modern game, they tend to be utilised much more like midfielders, as I said in the match thread, even the best full backs in the game at the moment get slaughtered defensively, such as Maicon against Gareth Bale when Tottenham beat Inter 3-1. Maicon's performance in this video is a lot worse than Coleman's was today.

Coleman wasn't playing against Bale though. Who, may I add, Hibbo has had in his pocket on more than one occasion.

Yeah, he really added some balance today. I've never said that Coleman doesn't add more to the squad from an attacking point of view (feel free to bump/quote the posts where I said that he didn't) but that really doesn't do you much good now does it when you can't take care of business in back does it?

I'm really laughing at the double standards on this forum though. Coleman deserves no less than other players have supposedly deserved on here and yet people are rushing to his defense. Now THAT is laughable. If only other players who've deserved a lot less criticism had those same people on here rushing to their defense....

Hypocritical much?

Contradictory, as you defend him when he makes clangers. But yer tick tock tick tock.
