You can see theres some kind of statement in the film.. But as EFCNIK said, they completely ruin it by being so ridiculously OTT its hard to take it seriously.

Theres some nasty, hardhitting films coming out of serbia nowdays. But as with any country that has come out of a horrible history, the films reflect its past and are quite angry.

I am not saying theres not a statment mate, What I am getting at is if you know theres a film and you know this film is very very controversial with scenes of kids being abused in it, Why would you watch it?

Apparently it's about how many Serbs feel as though they are f*cked from birth following all the corruption and grimness that went on in the 90s.

There are better ways to make a point. It's a pretty bad film.

To be fair, i didnt know that happened in the film when i saw it. The basic plot is about a ex porn star who does gets hired to perform in some underground films and it goes a bit grim. Its not built around kids being abused, so i wasnt watching it for that.

The controversy and the fact is it was made as a comment on the atrocities that happened in the country (based on stories on what soldiers got up to back then, some of which is far worse than in the film) added interest to it, for me.

But most people have watched it on the plain fact of it notoriety, which is each to his own

Have people only just heard of A Serbian Film? I thought every forum in the world had this discussion 2 years ago when it came out?

Martyrs is the most difficult film to watch I've ever seen - Great film though

Basically, yeah.

It loses all credability because of how ott it all is. Especially the end.

But, film history always shows that films out of countries that have suffered through a lot, generally churn out raw, uncompromising films before finding their own feet in filmmaking
