Jack Butland

Some people are forgetting how bad Wright and Gerrard were when they talk about Howard. I'd not mind Butland coming in if the deal was right but is he ready to replace Howard now or does he need to be loaned out to a Championship side for a year or two?

Agree. Wouldn't say no to us signing him but I'd say loan him out to build experience etc.

I say get him in.

I assure you he will be as good as Hart soon enough.

I've seen a fair bit of him since the Olympics and he has so much talent.

Howard is a decent keeper and makes some great saves but IS NOT good enough overall to keep us in the top few of the table as his concentration levels can be poor and the amount of long range efforts he lets in is unacceptable for a top keeper.

Butland looks the real deal and if. We had the money to be in for him we should compete for his signing.

Ask yourselves how many times has Howard already this season let goals in he shouldn't of.

For me too many.

He's more like Foster than Hart, Hart's world class where as Butland(and Foster) are grea tshot-stoppers but choose to punch when catching is the right choice and vice versa.

Then you have to put some blame on our defense too. Which folks conveniently forget. I don't think Howard has started this season great, (he's looked a little weird for his national team too at times), but to singlehandedly call him out for losses = wrong.

Jagielka has been good. The revolving door next to him has not been good, nor have the fouls Neville has given up for free kicks have been great either.

Our defense overall has not been up to snuff. Including Tim. I expect him to eventually recover and be fine.

He wont be fine, theres a reason United got rid of him, its cos he makes cock ups and as he gets older hes only gonna make more.

That star jump at Newcastle is unforgiveable and I personally think he was at fault for at least 1 of the RS goals.

He used to have 2-3 cock ups a Season and you could overlook them, but they are becoming a regular feature.

I think people conveniently forget his great performances here - I have no idea how he suddenly has always been a crappy player. There are mood swings on this board about players I don't understand, and we use recent performances to make sweeping judgments about a player's entire history.

Fine, that's 2 goals he let in. The defense also hung him out to dry those games but we don't really see threads about that do we? Neville also has committed some bonehead fouls, and we are talking about that, but thankfully most people are looking at current form and not completely tossing out our captain.

Tim is not in form. I am willing to say that and call him out on it. He looks a little nervous and I don't know why. I also say this because he also has had those nerves recently for his National Team - so it's consistent.

I hope he recovers and regains his form (along with Heitinga/Distin). I expect him too, and would be surprised if he doesn't. But he is not the colossal crappy GK that people make him out to be here, I just don't believe that. To say "there's a reason United got rid of him" is a massive statement that I will give Neiler because at least he's been consistent with his drum banging.

If competition will help, fine. But I am not removing him from between the sticks. I just don't agree. Oh, and he made a great save yesterday to prevent one from going in, so he's not completely lost.
