I know we have been linked with him in the past, does anyone know if he resigned with Boro and do you reckon he might be worth it?

I think he is a solid player and would suit our style of play. Any thoughts?

hmm, interesting, i think he is very solid player, i think he would excel under Moyes

Would love him here. As moore said, he would excel under Moyes. You see flashes of his brilliance from time to time and with Goodison behind him, he would be one hell of a player.

I agree that Moyes would get the best out of him, but because he is English I fear he would be ridiculously priced.

One of the best players in the Prem for me, if/when he is available i have no doubht we will be in for him!
So thats a big Yes! from me!(y)

This is one that I actually think has got some mileage. Look at a Moyes check list:

British: Check

Young: Check

Not yet realised full potential: check

Left sided player: CHECK

So I am an absolute YES!

I agree mate I also dont think Milner is that good he is above average but not that special from what Ive seen(y)

I like Downing a lot, and being a natural left-sided player is a big, big plus. One worry is that he showed some loyalty to Boro last season by signing a five year contract (which is good on a personal level). That means that Boro will hold out for a big wedge of cash should he move away (which he will, I think).

I'd definatly take Downing but I can't see it happening. Boro will be wanting us to pay silly money and we shouldn't in my opinion. 7-10 million would be a fair price in my opinion.

He's a talented lad though and a lefty which is something we lack. He's got decent pacy, a good left foot and has quality on the ball. He's certainly more cultured than the likes of SWP and Lennon who's games are more based around pace.

Peanut is better, so is Steven Hunt at LW. Hunt would provide a physical presence that the team lacks. He also tracks back which is something Downing refuses to do and I have a feeling that because of this Downing would get into Moyes's doghouse pretty quickly if he was on the squad. Hunt also doesn't get credit the footballing skills he has. Go back and watch the Reading 1-0 victory against us. He was everywhere, when he wasn't bullying his way in in the box and scoring the only goal he was throwing in sweet crosses in that were every bit good as Downing's crosses are (unfortately for Reading Championship strikers were at the end of them this season). Oh and Hunt would cost 1/2 as much as Downing. If Hunt was on the squad he'd become a fan favorite in about 3 seconds.
