Sharpys top lip

Player Valuation: £60m
The jewel in Russia’s crown made his Euro 2008 debut against Sweden after missing the first two games due to suspension. Arshavin turned in an awesome performance, which has managers across the world drooling over him; and with everyone salivating over the Russian skillster, this BBC journo feels he is too good to be at Goodison…
The BBC’s Phil McNulty uncorks his journalistic champagne and drizzles Arshavin with praise in his article, but his feelings about any Everton bid are less than complimentary.
Everton’s interest, as so often, has been talked about without materialising into fact and after he destroyed Sweden I suspect he may have more illustrious clubs on his trail.
Sorry to sound cruel Everton fans, but I am afraid that falls into the harsh but fair category. I do not see why Arshavin would end up at Everton. (BBC)
Admittedly the Russian is on £50,000-a-week at UEFA Cup winners Zenit St Petersburg, but to imply that he is too good for Everton and then say that Manchester City should have a splurge on him (which he does later in the article) is a little rich isn’t it? Moyes’ interest in Arshavin started when Everton entertained Zenit in the UEFA Cup, and the flame-haired Jock has declared his interest in bringing in players that will drag Everton up another level.
Is Arshavin really an unrealistic target for Everton?

Who the fukk does the arse wipe think he is. What a load of [Poor language removed],just look at some of these responses aswell.

Sharpey they can all get F****d for some reason we are not liked by the media I stopped buying the daily Mirror because of the blatant bias against us Reid a red nose was actually the nearest to being fair the Sundays are no better mind you if you listen to Parry on Talk sport you will cringe nah mate its us against the world but we will show them:@

If he does go to a team thats not the top 4 i think the realisation will be he picked the wrong club. Consistency is the key and we have that in abundance. The sooner this lad decides what club to go to the better then we can all get on with this frustratingly slow transfer period.

Hell ye to that.

Is that you in the avertar by any chance?:unsure::unsure:

They are so annoying, i hate the way they think because they have so much moeny they are going straight to the top 4. I hope they do get Ronaldinho, because firstly, he isnt as good as he used to be, and a good team has to have a good atmosphere, and bringing in huge big name signings would provide that.

Ronaldinho is still a class act and if he gets the right manager behind him he could be back to his best. I lived in Barca for a year a went to many matches and id never seen anything like him. But he's a complete piss head and lacked faith for the last year cause Spanish supporters are renowned for not getting behind there players if they have a bad run. Honestly i would be scared if city got him.

Agreed. On form still the most talented player in the world for me and still could be if he gets himself fit and in the right frame of mind. He has skills that the likes of Ronaldo, Messi and Kaka can only dream of. Truly excellent player on his day and a joy to watch.

He needs a new challenge though and a manager who can get the best out of him. Hopefully he does because it'd be a terrible waste of talent and he'd never be seen as one of the best when he actually has the talent to be up there with anyone.

Little Everton aren't worth a mention these days.

We finish mid table every season, have a [Poor language removed] manager and have no talented players at all.

the guys in the mirror should be exposed for what they are, as coyney said read was the closest to being fair,
i cant see how they let the betting guy take up some of their space by having a pop at us in 99% of his columns, whatever the subject regarding whoever he brings us into it somehow with sly remarks,
as i've also said, his betting firm dont match his sentiments with the odds they offer so what kind of expert is he, lets see him predict where we will finish next season +- 1 place and we get the field
i cant be arsed buying it now as they insist on allowing them to print endless crap about us

Personally i dont mind slipping under the radar of the press, in many ways keeping a low profile helps us. The facts are we the most successfull club outside the top four in the last few seasons, consistently qualifying for Europe in the past two seasons and the only club to break into the sky 4 albeit once in recent memory, despite the milions being thrown around by Spurs, City, Newcastle and City. No longer to we have to argue that we are a big club based on our tradition, fan base, and looking at our illustrious past. When was the last time you heared the term sleeping giant used in relation to us?

I think the low profile and expectation level helps us in the transfer market. Remember last summer people were wishing for Richardson and Nugent and we got Pienaar and Yak and spent close to 30 mill. Admit it none of us were expecting that! In fact the clubs strategy in the transfer market is so good that even its most loyal devotees, in us as the fans, question our own ambition in the transfer market on here on a daily basis with the the more negative having a go at the board and the more optimistic being quietly confident. In fact no one really has a scooby, but for me its the only way to work within the transfer window.

What i find fascinating when i study football, is that when certian jobs come up im talking the Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle, City jobs, etc, Moyes is never really considered in the media hype as being linked with them. Let me explain this, he is the most successfull manager pound for pound outside the sky four in recent years and broke the goldon circle once, a wish of every club with money to throw around. When jobs have come available at high profile clubs you could always rely on certain managers in the last few years being linked like, Alladyce, Curbishly, O Neill, and more recently Hughes, some of those links have been more tenuous then others but the fact is these links are part of a media induced agenda to move good managers at some clubs to what they feel are better clubs for the purpose of making stories out of it.

So why not Moyes the facts speak for themselves he is the most sucessfull manager outside the sky four, and his contract situation is not as complicated as many others, why dont the media try and destabilise or create unrelenting speculation about his position at our club, or clubs who are thorwing around hundreds of millions annually come in for him, given that every second week there is this manager and that manager coming out and saying they want to emulate the work David Moyes has done in his time at Everton.

The truth is wheather the media begrudge it to us or not we are a big club, and there are very few that can compete with us in a lot of ways, in terms of tradition, history, fanbase, success, and more recently stability and an offering a reasonable opportunity of success, im trying not to be biased to us saying that but its a fact. Moyes would be as nuts to leave us as we would be to let him go there are very few rungs on the ladder ahead of us, and in many ways he knows this and said has said it.

So forget the odd sniping article by some no mark journo, who trying to get the shekels together for a week in benidorm, be strong in your own anaylse and beleif of our club and what we have acheived in the last few seasons, the majority of the media do, albiet begrudgeingly because we are not throwing wads of cash about, no board room drama, our manager positioon is consistent, and they havnt a clue about who we are trying to sign, in fact we make reporting about our club very difficult because we are so well run that must be frustrating for the gutter press given our huge fan base hence the cirticism, when there is no drama they try to create it.

On the Ashavein front, paitence is key, i am not naieve enough, to think that if we are intrested an approach has not already happened at least to the player and nothing will be decided untill the end of the yo yo's. You will find with Zenit allowing him to go, a fee is public knowledge, so i beleive it is about making a proposal to the player, convinceing him and letting him choose, so if we are intrested we are in there with a few others, i have an understanding that Moyesy has been out at the tournament a few times already!
