Very injury prone with a couple of major injuries and operations behind him at what 19/20years of age. And for a attack minded midfielder not got the greatest scoring record-something like 10 goals in 80 games.

I'd prefer Benayoun.. end of story in my opinion.
Yeah Barnes is younger but he doesnt seem the everton type, plus he didnt impress me once last season, and I seen him a couple of times.

I would love to see him here, adds pace to our team which we need especially from wide position and the ability to come on and change a game. He isn't the finished article but we need midfielders for next season and we can't have 8 or 9 top class midfielders so we need some cheaper alternatives.

I think we need a bit more variation in our team. Players like Beneyoun are good players but there very similar to Arteta and Pienaar. Small creative players who cut inside and cause havoc.

I'm all for a wingless system as you keep the ball better and build patiently but if thats not working you need a different option. Someone like Barnes with pace to burn would be a good option. Someone who can go past players and hit the byline.

We do lack pace in midfield.

I agree with the Milner desire. I have the same want. I think he could do wonders for us, and we would get him back in the England fold.

Back to topic, I see the annual Giles Barnes connections have arisen again. I honestly feel there is nothing in this again. He is a sideways move, not a forward move.
