This signing could very much mean that Pienaar is being pushed more central, with this new lad on the left. Before anyone says "but that would break up the partnership", just because they don't start next to each other doesn't mean they won't be able to pass to each other.

No, the new kid will be on the bench. We've got an excellent first eleven already. This is just a couple of million for cover/the future.

Not really excited by this signing, and i do understand that we could do with cover for LB cos Baines is playing to much, distin did do well there but he a defender and will be needed in center back or cover for center back, cant see us spending any where near 5 million for him tho.

Like I said I'm not for a moment knocking Moyes in the transfer market, his record is fantastic and the occassional error is bound to happen.

But they were both missteps, end of. Kroldrup less so because we got the money back but Bily was never going to be the winger we needed, too slow and lightweight and the fact we wasted the Lescott money on him set us back for two and a half years.

We got £20m+ for Lescott and paid around £7m for Bily, so we didn't waste the Lescott money on him.

Yeah, it definitely wasn't the right buy and Moyes should have taken his time, but still anyone could make that mistake (we saw some moments of pure class from the lad and maybe Moyes thought that he could do it regularly).

True that, but the guy will obviously need to get game time one way or another, it's not like a goalkeeper who doesn't have to play as regularly like Mucha haha.

After we sold Lescott we bought three new players and then no more for another two years. It's not unreasonable to say that all the lescott money was spent on those three.

Two of those (heitinga and Distin) were great buys and together replaced lescott adequately. So we didn't miss him from our defense.

Which meant the rest of the money could be spent improving the rest of the squad. And we put it all on Bily and it didn't work.

When we sold Bily (for half of what we paid), we spent that money on Jelavic and Gibson which improved us beyond belief. In comparison to how good Moyes did there, it shows the Bily deal up as a misstep.

Or, in a roundabout way, we bought Jelavic and Gibson with the Lescott money as well. Well done Moyes.

Not sure if anyone's posted this but signing this lad could be a replacement for Baines... NO not this season but maybe next season as a way player trading to strengthen the team in other areas, everyone knows this is how we operate and it's a way of improving without having a so called investor, if the lad can play and we were offered 15 m plus for Baines next season like the Rodwell sale this year I can see this being our plan, not saying we should but I think we will do this ^^^

This guy plays mainly in midfield, so he's not just being brought in as back-up for Baines, he's as much as a left-back as Pranjic is, can play there in emergencies but will mainly cover a few positions in midfield, no idea how good he is like.
