Rooney - where would he fit in?

I have my Puma Keijan home top ready with Rooney 18 on the back and that dixie dean badge on the side for when he comes back. even when he left i just couldn't bin it, loved that top.

I tore the 1 off and scribbled 'all the pies' underneath with a marker pen

I'd much prefer for him to be sold to a club that could actually afford him, and that we got the 15% off whatever profit United make on his transfer.

I genuinely don't see the point in this thread.

At £250k per week, he'd have to agree to a wage cut of about 65% for it to be within our financial reach. And even if, by some miracle, he decided to agree to this ridiculously poor financial decision, where on earth would we be getting the £40 million or so it would take to actually buy him?

He'll be back one day, but he'll be 33 or so by the time this happens.

Oh, and as far as where he would fit in - wherever he wanted. He'd be our best player by a distance and anyone who says differently is living in denial. We have some good player, some very good players in fact, but we have nobody on Rooney's level.

This....that's providing this deal hasn't been scuppered during other deals with Utd.

As for those suggesting swapping with Fellaini...Why? Apart from the fact that this is stuff from la la land, why strengthen one area to weaken another?

To be fair the OP has said numerous times here that it's a hyperthetical question. Not as if it was going to happen.

Obviously no chance of anything happening but I would love him back and id be certain we'd make top 4.

He's deffinately not happy at OT and fergie's comments about a player not being in love with the club anymore, he will move them on...

Shame we ain't got the funds... He'd run the trip down the motorway to put on a blue shirt again IMO.

He'll play out the remainder of his contract and United will give him to us for a nominal fee as a thank you for getting one of the best players in world football for the paltry sum of £25m.

IMO.

Dont want to piss on anyones chips like but im nearly sure that the 15% Sell-On clause, only lasted for 5 years? Maybe im mixing that up with somthing else.

Difficult one for me. Firstly, i dont see this happening though strange things happen in football. Secondly, i feel if he was to return, the team spirit we have at the minute, would be ruined in my opinion. All the focus would be on Rooney and not on the team. Would i have him back? Not sure.
