Leighton Baines

Just a note in Baines.

United don't have a lot of money. They are floating on the New York Stock Exchange to keep themselves alive.

Not sure what effect that would have on this, but they can't go spending Man City type money.

Sheedy will confirm but Agents and clubs can put in place non legal binding aggrements with a view to sale without having to tell you or me. The hard talk is done weeks in advance and then it,s case of managing YOUR expections by the club in a sense, dependent upon the player moving in or out.

The average not ITK fan is the last to know always has and always will.

This.

I was initially told in January, after the Gibson deal, that it was one of 3 that could be making there way to Old Trafford. The inital story I heard was that IF Everton wanted to sell then Utd would be given first option on either Felli, Barkley or Baines. It would be the clubs decision, not the players.

I posted my comment yesterday, because the same person who told me about the January deal told me that an agreement was now in place and expect the rags and local ITK to start getting wind of this within the next week or so. I've been told £15m no players involved; only time will tell

It doesn't matter what's in the press, or what Sky Sports News are reporting, most interaction between clubs regarding transfers goes on without any of us being aware.

Clubs release statements, stories etc. to serve their own needs, and shock horror, managers will lie to the press to appease their own fans if the truth has potentially negative connotations.

It wouldn't surprise me in the least in Baines does go, even if he'd be happy to stay at Goodison presently. I'm sure that with a season under his belt at Old Trafford he'll be rated as highly in the media as we all rate him at present. Man Utd are a massive club and he deserves the chance to ply his trade in the Champions League. I'll hold him no ill will if he ends up playing there as he's done a fantastic job for Everton and the club will be well rewarded in return.

As RFUS said, we're a mid tier side and big clubs will want our better players. If they make moves and engineer their departure then fk em, but if, like Leighton, they've been the model of diplomacy, then god speed and best of luck.

yep and my guess is that it won,t be 15m upfront - UTD are known to stretch transfer payments over the contract length - meaning it has an impact on us buying other players were we need to have plenty of sponds upfront.

Very bad deal all around for us better to get it done with City.

I'm very reluctant to pass on information I receive after being hounded on Kipper over DK and what I was told.

So when i'm 99% sure I'll put it to the masses to debate. The only thing I know is the guy who told me this is not related to football one bit, he his a wealthy man from Merseyside who has his own business, however he seems to get a lot of information relating to Man United. He did tell me to put my mortgage on Martinez becoming the next Liverpool manager though, I along with manyy ITK's on this website were 99.999& sure that was a done deal, so things change.

Whether this goes through is another thing, the agreement is with the clubs and I don't even no if Baines has been approached or if any dealings have taken place with his agent. Stuff like that is up in the air for me

Fergies bothched it if he had first refusal on them 3, as good as baines is, and he is excellent, Felli and Barkley would have been better signings given utds squads strenghts/weaknesses, I also think Felli is more important to us, and Barkley will be if moyes doesnt ruin him. Would still be gutted to see Baines go, and despite Pranjic's arrival,if it happens, I think Moyes would start the season with Distin left back.
