2025/26 David Moyes

I think we were the better team yesterday after watching it back but being the better team means nothing if you don't make it count and you make silly mistakes. Changes came too late and I don't understand why we didn't go for it a bit more in the second half.
If passing the ball about in our own half and then losing it as soon as it gets into their half is classed as the better team then yes we were.

They had a keeper come on making his debut with the sun in his eyes and we didn't muster up one shot on target.

We were useless against a useless Liverpool team who wanted to win more than we did.

We'll never play a worse Liverpool team than that.

We already did,in the fa cup at their place. We lost that as well.

Oh Tim, when i replied to your post earlier I hadnt realised that you were so far brainwashed.

Do you really think Moyes didnt sign these players?

The club told you.
Several people at the club told you.
The media told you.
Fans told you.

But YOU dont believe any of them.

Good for you.

Ffs

Can I ask you a question. What do you think we are paying a recruitment and scouting team to do?

I think if Moyes signs a new contract he’s going to look for more control over recruitment - I think he pushed for the likes of KDH, Grealish and Travers - I think we will see more of these types rather then the “committee” types like Barry and Aznou.

He’s going to point to KDH and Grealish and say….look what they brought…trust me with more and we’l push on.

If so it’s a bit of a non argument because they’re the only two he chooses to play regularly

Aznodibling and rohl could be great but we have no idea cos they never get a chance

Just to summarise, I dont believe these players were anywhere near top of his targets list. And the fact he won't use them, and clearly doesn't rate some of them, is pretty strong evidence.

Moyes might have eventually signed off on players but clearly someone in the recruitment process is recommending them too. That's a problem too. We spent about 80m on 3 players who don't get close to the first team. My question is why were those players even on our targets?

No club is ever going to publicly have a manager come out and say a new signing wasn't who they wanted.
Similarly though, you're never really going to have a manager who gets all his top targets. We're a midtable side and our budget doesn't stretch to the very best players so to some extent the manager is always going to be signing players who aren't the ones he'd want in an ideal world.

We know that Moyes was in sole charge of transfers when he was here the first time and it wasn't unheard of for him to sign players who he then didn't use so it's not that much of a stretch to think it may have happened here. It's not like he's going out and identifying these players himself either way, they're obviously being recommended by scouts/agents/others at the club at some point, but I don't think it's particularly unbelievable that Moyes may have thought Dibling (for example) was a good signing in theory but then doesn't like what he's seeing in practice.

It occured to me about the rumours of new signings at United.

Baines, Bale, Kroos & Ronaldo I think?

Then Moyes signed Fellaini for them.

Youre right though, no manager gets their first choices. We were told Ramsay, McGinn and Soucek were the main ones with Delap.

He then blamed no europe.

Hes now saying he spoke with 12 players and is happy Grealish and KDH signed.

Hope everyone feels better after a little sleep.

Sleep sadly not but yer ma cooks up a fabulous english breakfast.

Lovely muffin as well :p

Ok, I attributed a win and a draw to Royle believing he'd been in charge that extra half season or so.

But you do realise what you're doing here?

In an effort to defend the worst derby manager of all time you've (illicitly) denigrated the derby day record of our greatest ever manager and cast a shadow over the unbeaten derby day record of another Everton player-manager legend.

That's some dedication you're showing to a ropey manager who's led us nowhere other than up the garden path for 12 years. 👏
