2025/26 Beto

Not enough has been said about the fact moyes chose from start of November till the end of Feb to start barry over him, at most getting 30 mins mostly getting 5-10 mins (think he started 1 game in this period).

His goal tally this season is remarkable considering.
Not the best player but runs his heart out every game and is a decent finisher.
Light years ahead of barry.

He was in a half-arsed sulk himself at the time.

As I put in another thread, his goals to minutes is third best we've had from a striker in the PL era (and that was before today).

Lukaku 1st, Yak 2nd, Beto 3rd. Then Saha, then a big drop down to Jelavic. Then an even bigger drop down to DCL and Johnson. Campbell, Ferguson, Rideout et al miles behind them.

So, he really is worth keeping around. Performances are inconsistent, but he always tries (ahem, Barry) and goals in the PL are a hard commodity to come by.

that was the Beto experience today in a nutshell-

-brilliant flick-on header that only got kept out by a highlight reel save

- miserable miss on a shot that was closer to the corner flag than the goal frame

- poachers pounce onto a ball in the six yard box for a huge goal that turned the game

-knocked three players out of the contest with injury including himself

Such a weird player. He lacks so much from his game but at the same time he has one of the most likeable personalities of any footballer and he gives it his all every single week. I just wish he was a little bit better at football because if he was then it would be a comfortable decision to keep him as our starting striker.
