Summer transfer window.

Football is dying a slow death imo

Used to have tricky wingers back in the 60-80s and even the 90’s

Then the number 10 was the maverick type

James , requelme , Ronaldinho , zidane and may more

Nowadays the wingers are inverted and boring , number 10’s are defensive

The players are fitter but it’s very boring compared to the 90’s and early 2000’s
That’s a proper insult to Zidane and Ronaldinho there. It’s like saying Sheedy, Reid, Gbamin, and Farrell.

I’d be suprised if we didn’t ask about Delap, he seems nailed on to move away from Chelsea and we had a bid for him last year that he apparently considered

Issue is, Chelsea are muppets and probably want more than the 30million they spent last time. Don’t think there’s a chance any club coughs that up. You don’t get to have a stinker season (that everyone predicted) and then demand a profit.

I’d have a crocked Delap over Barry in a heartbeat. Can’t wait until we sell him, adieu!

What do people seem to see in Delap.

Gomes at Wolves is a better/more exciting midfielder than Andre there, but I wonder if Andre’s actually the one we really need? A proper 6 to play between the defence and our box to boxers. Would give us more cover and competition in defensive midfield, when most of our midfielders are currently natural 8s.

I find it really interesting that one of Moyes’s first priorities last summer was apparently Pahinha who went on loan to Spurs, but - as with Tete - when we missed out, we didn’t go for any like for like replacement. It’s not hard to imagine that that’s still the type of player he wants to add to the squad - maybe even still the exact player!
I absolutely love André. I think he's much more what our squad needs too, like you allude to. A proper sitter who screens the defence and is excellent at that first phase of play, playing a pass through the first defensive line to the players ahead of him.

Dreadful in the air though for some reason so I suspect Moyes wouldn't be keen for that reason. Otherwise I think he's nearly perfect for us.

Yeah I reckon you’re right. Moyesy’s perfect number six would have the game of Andre, but the stature of Fellaini. That’s probably how he got to Palhinha!

I am so glad we missed Palhinha my god.
I actually love him as a player and the catastrophe that is Spurs season hasn’t put me off, I really think he would take our squad up a level - though I appreciate it’s a very bad time to argue this and his age and cost means it probably won’t happen now anyway!

There is definitely a lot less individual talent on show nowadays. All about tactics. I think most football matches are pretty dull nowadays.

He's expensive and defensive midfielders don't win games. We need to focus our budget on fullbacks and striker.
