David Moyes thinks Fellaini could become Cahill's long term replacement in the hole.

I like him in the deep lying midfield role, whether you label it defensive or not his presence helps break the opposition play up whether in the air or muscling off the ball.

The beauty of him is that he can get forward and play too. I do think that he should be kept in the centre of the park and let him go box to box as and when.

I CRAVE a creative influence in there with him or someone in that free role behind Jelavic

There is a way we can play that allows us to utilise both sides of Fellaini's game.
He is clearly capable going forward but he is also capable of dominating a midfield with his physicality, Aerial ability and ground he can cover.

For me we now need to move the whole team forward 10 yards and start pressing high up the pitch and harrying teams out of possession in their own half. A tactic Barca use to great effect. With Pienaar in our side and the others likely to play, a high energy game shouldn't be a problem.

Having Fellaini also allows us to play Gibson and Rodwell who both cover ground well and in Gibsons case, gets his tackles in early.

There is so much potential for us to improve on last season with even just Pienaar and Ross going from the right for a season ot two while he matures.

I really like the idea of seeing, Fellaini, Rodwell, Gibson and Barkely in the same team- not sure how it would all come together but a young, vibrant, energetic midfield that can chase down, play a bit and really dominate.

He's a player who is actually consistent year on year and with our goalscoring problems in the first half of seasons I think giving Felli less defensive responsibilities early on in the season could be a change that would help us start scoring sooner.

Him and Felli linking up more would be brilliant and with a big club or two sniffing around Baines, there may be one less motivation to keep Pienaar on the left come Septemer.

Statistically he's the best dm in the league. Most tackles won, more plays broken up then any player...pull me up if I'm wrong but its something like that.

We've had five pages here of moaning about/defending the idea but I think this is far more about preparing people for a post-Cahill time than anything about Fellaini. While most GOT types are probably wanting Cahill to be a bench player at best (if not sold) I could see EFC wanting to mitigate any potential grumbling from fans if Cahill were to be sold by saying "don't worry, Fellaini is fine there." Whether or not Fellaini actually plays there consistently is sort of beside the point.

TBH if Billy had done the things Mofro has done anytime he has played in the hole or had his record people would be creaming themselves this wouldnt even be a debate.

Its weird after all this time, people just seem to underestimate or misjudge mofro even after all these years.
