David Moyes thinks Fellaini could become Cahill's long term replacement in the hole.

Thing is Neiler, opinions and all that, but I don't think Fellaini, boss as he is, is capable of 10+ goals and 7-10 assists in that role.

Vaulted at end of season and proven wrong!*

He got 9 in 28 games playiing there his first season mate. His rate when moved there this season - was better.

He's had 9 assists in his entire career with us according to ESPN's website, just saying. The year he was in an attacking position with 8 goals, he had only 1 assist.

How many assists? That's a nice return, but it wasn't attractive footy if I remember.

The year we got to the cup final mate, tbh its as good as its been, his max assists is five, tbh i think hes capable of better if the end of the season is a glimpse of capability, 5 is average though - bearing in mind he has played deeper.

Compleatley wrong for me like, hes not even a defensive midfeilder to be perfectly honest. I dont know why people persist with having to define one as DM or Attacking Midfeilder. He is capable of playing of offensively or defensively, its all about the roles the manager assignes. If he is capable of scoring 10 goals a season from an advanced midfeild posititon to supplement a potential 15+ from Jelavic thats a huge impact on the team, position and winning games. Not only that the link up play between Jelavic, Pienarr, Fellini and Osman has been excellent in the last quater of the league and coincided with our most creative and potent period offensively as a team.

I think your being massively unfair on the lad - ovals and what not and am honestly a bit confused that you think he isnt creative. Its unrealistic looking for a creative midfelder capable of topping 10 goals and likely 7-10 assists Felli is capable of a season on our budget, thats up there tbh. We have Heitinga, Neville, Gibson, Rodwell and Barkley all capable of playing a holding or box to box role - you want to sign another central midfeilder - your goging to be dissapointed mate, thats not even beep on next seasons rader.

No sense really.

Think that applies to you saying he's not a defensive midfielder, which is laughable.

You can't just say 'he scored 8 goals' and try and use that to justify putting him there. Not only does a CAM have to score goals and create them through assists, but they also have to be able to spread the play and pick passes that other players don't see. The fact is that he does not have the shooting ability or creativity.

I'll say again, nobody has said he couldn't do a job there, but why on earth would you want to take one of the best defensive midfielders in the league (the stats don't lie, even if you don't think he is one) and use him in a position where he is simply OK ?

But the year he played up there, he had only 1 assist.

I'd love to be proven wrong by him like!

Fair enough lid, time will be the great leveller, tbh i think you need to watch the lad and the game a bit more.

I like him in the deep lying midfield role, whether you label it defensive or not his presence helps break the opposition play up whether in the air or muscling off the ball.

The beauty of him is that he can get forward and play too. I do think that he should be kept in the centre of the park and let him go box to box as and when.

I CRAVE a creative influence in there with him or someone in that free role behind Jelavic
