Yes - I figured that if I was going to use an average figure to work out league position I'd base it on the average figure of the teams in the league.

The 'dross' are also contributors to the teams above us having more points so it's not very accurate to dismiss their gains for 'dragging it down' while crediting the points teams above us have won from playing the dross.

I'm not sure we should by rights be in the top 10 of any metric. We have an abysmal dearth of quality beyond what is already a pretty average first 11 in PL terms.

Very frustrating all the same. I know every team can say if only….Yes we’ve been comprehensively beaten by Newcastle, Spurs and Brentford, but how we didn’t beat Wolves, Villa (when we dominated the whole game) and West ham is particularly galling.

Watched the game with my two young daughters in the Fulham stand next to two absolute weapons who were slagging off scousers the entire time. Had to bite my lip on several occasions. Had the last laugh though. The away support was absolutely unbelievable. My girls were transfixed by the singing and the passion. Well and truly hooked the pair of them now and they made me wait so we could walk to the tube with the Everton fans so we could join in the singing. It's days like these that keep us coming back. I was fearful we were going to miss the first half as well when we were still on Upper Street looking for a taxi at 2:10pm. Bloody Victoria line.
