January Transfer Window 2026

I think we may get a loan just before deadline day. The "PSR headroom" that we'll gain going into the summer is obviously what they're looking at.

I bet the Grealish injury has kiboshed any plans to put chips in the middle and say we're going for a European place.

I’m expecting a fast start in the summer window and no excuses about it being a World Cup year.

Yep.

Zero ambition.

That'll suit *certain* people at the club.

I’m not a massive fan, but Leeds bidding for Strand Larson shows decent ambition given they have a red-hot goalscoring machine already.
It’s honestly baffling to me, after watching us waste millions on utter crap and pay the price for years afterwards, that to so many “ambition” can only be represented by chucking money at absolutely anyone.

We’ve got owners who will want a fairly quick return on their significant investment. We’ve got a brand new stadium. We’ve got a very existing nucleus of young players to take us forward. I would suggest that all shows ambition.

I’d take Strand Larsen over Beto as a squad option, but does swapping one middling striker for another show a great deal of ambition?

I’d love new full-backs but it would *seem* that we don’t feel like there’s anyone suitable available either at all or for the right price. We could be wrong in that assertion in which case it’s a scouting competency issue, not a lack of ambition. We could be right about it, in which case we’re keeping our powder dry to aid in the fulfilment of a project that will be multiple years and windows in the making.

Yes - We’ve made the same excuses for a previous regime where massive incompetence and lack of consistency were the order of the day, so I get why they’re met with derision under the new guys but what more can we do other than hold them at their word?

Personally I’ll take any improvement on league position vs last year as a satisfactory sign that things are moving the in the right direction. I’d take a Summer spend similar to the last one, but targeted on the areas that the last one continued to leave us short in - FBs and a striker as priority, with some cover at least at CB and out wide. Give me that and I’ll be happy. Don’t, and I’ll be cryarsing along with everyone else, but I can respect them putting together a plan and living or dying by it rather than deviating at the first available opportunity.

I’d rather have Wilson as a squad option than Dwight McNeil.
