January Transfer Window 2026

Depends if he’s a long term target or not.

It’s possible that in the summer we could see McNeil leave and perhaps Grealish if we can’t sort a deal. That would leave us with Dibling and Ndiaye as wide options. Ndiaye may attract interest as well.

We do need more pace in the team and will need wide players this summer. I don’t think Brennan Johnson is the answer and certainly not at that price but wouldn’t surprise me to see another wide player come in.

We’ve been quite fortuitous this season to have Ndiaye and Grealish available nearly every game.

Its like ive been saying though.

If we keep Grealish & Ndiaye on the wings we have:

LW: Grealish / McNeil
RW: Ndiaye / Dibling

If we keep Grealish and sell McNeil then we'll be after a 4th choice player (Ndiaye goes left and Dibling starts).

Knowing Moyes, that 4th choice will rarely play. Personally I'd go for Monga from Leicester to develop to takeover when Grealish is on the way down in e.g 3 seasons. So I expect something like that or a cheap backup.

On the other hand. If we didnt proceed with Grealish and sold McNeil then we have Ndiaye Left & Dibling right. We'd then need 2 players to come in. Thats where value will be key.

Thats why we have higher priorities.

This has gone from palace agreeing a bid, to absolute nonsense.
Fans seem to think we have limitless funds and can just buy anyone who becomes available when in reality we need to be smart with the finances we have otherwise we'll end up with a bloated mess of a squad which we recently had under the Moshiri regime

There needs to be a decision on how the team is going to play. It’s a bit all over the place at the moment.

The Grealish KDH Ndiaye triumvirate makes sense on paper as three schemers behind a striker but if that striker is Beto then it doesn’t work at all, and the lack of pace causes issues.

We need to decide who is playing striker and then build the team to provide the service they need. If it’s Barry and he wants crosses and pull backs then we might need two quick wingers on either flank to stretch teams and create space for him. If he wants interplay around the box then Grealish and Ndiaye will need to come inside closer and we may need overlapping fullbacks and a more defensive midfield three.

At the moment we’re trying to do a bit of everything.

I see what you're saying but long term target or not,he's not signing now and the likelihood is he's never going play us.

So to spend 35 million on a player in January,in position we doing need, would seem a bit outrageous.

It interesting we're even debating it to be honest mate.

Oh yeah I don’t think Brennan Johnson at 30 mill is a thing for Everton at all.

I just think we’re obviously not going down this year so if long term targets become available in positions that may not seem as priority for fans I could still see the club going for them. It wouldn’t surprise me if we bought another wide player, perhaps not in January but I certainly think one could arrive in summer.

Look at how this thread evolves, it evolves in a non reality format.

We need 3 positions before we look at anything else.

I made 1 post and that was, palace have agreed a fee for Johnson.
Nothing to do with us..

It than tails round in circles from nowhere, but to say a player like him wouldn't improve us is just silly.

Our squad is depleted from quality bar about 9 players.
Grealish, we dont even know what's happening with him..

The whole thing has just got stupid over a player we aren't signing.

If people are turning there nose up at 'Johnson' after looking at our squad on saturday, than you need a serious wake up call !!!

And get off Fiffa

I quite like him, but there’s many other positions of much higher priority than RW.

Plus it potentially stifles Diblings progression.

Not for me…
