2025/26 Charly Alcaraz

Such unhinged takes on this thread , Alcarez should be our number 10 he creates chances when we're not playing against one of the best defending teams in the EPL. Posters on here are so reactive
Yh the stuff you see immediately after games is pretty hilarious tbh.

I couldn't watch the game yesterday, had a look on here after seeing the score and see meltdowns happening in almost every player thread.

I just think - we lost by 1 goal (a penalty), against probably the best team in the world atm, and by all accounts should have had a penalty that would have got us a draw. Was it really that bad?

Not reactive from me mate.

Check my post history.

I don't rate him, haven't for a good while and nothing I say is inconsistent.

He's a liability with possession. He can run, he works hard, he carries the ball into open space well, but he has no football brain at all, he runs out of ideas often at the end of those carries he makes and he never has a picture in his head. I get very worried when he picks up possession in deep areas because I know he's likely to give it away.

He 1000% shouldn't be in the first XI, he's simply nowhere near good enough to be considered to be a first team player.

I accept he has uses in certain game scenarios, but there's nothing reactive about pointing out that he is bang average (in fact below average) for a team who are trying to actually play with the ball a bit.

I'd sell him without hesitation in the summer

It was pure containment mode which I thought for that aim we did well, offensively we were non existent, we had them scrambling throughout the match due to our pressing they did not look comfortable. So in my mind we were put up a spirited defense with no intent of winning but it wasnt shambolic either

Yeah that sounds about right tbh. Hard to say what people expect to see beyond spirit and running when we're far outclassed in virtually every position on the pitch

You cant use charly without Illy and KDH in the team, he than becomes a liability, because he has to play to strengths he doesn't have..
We had 5 shots yesterday. Alcaraz had 3. When Ndiaye is out Alcaraz is necessary. Grealish isn’t doing enough. The strikers aren’t in the game (this is a tactics issue too, but still). The fullbacks aren’t threats. We have nothing without him.

we are painfully passive when Ndiaye doesn’t play. The issue with Alcaraz without KDH behind him is that Alcaraz is probably asked to do a bit more in the middle to make up for the lack of creativity, which then makes him a liability. When you’re asking him to stay further up and make things happen, it’s fine. When he drops deeper to collect passes, it’s not fine. He needs a KDH to carry it forward from that 8 and pass it on.

Being passive is going to and will continue to, hurt us in this upcoming month. Having the absences we currently have is even more of a reason to take more risks, not settle for valient 0-1 losses with a continent excuse.

Not saying Charly is the answer, he was dreadful against Arsenal, but my god it’s sad seeing us to revert to Dyche hoofball and running out of ideas as soon as we get it into the other team’s box.
