2025/26 David Moyes

Villa have not won a FA cup since the 50’s. 1 league title in 110 years. Had Only been out the championship 2 years and went and got Emery from a champions league team in Spain . That should be the end of the chat mate. If you have ambition and the right people running the club, you can go and get a top top manager.
And at last we might agree on something. Wasn't it his pal Monchi from Seville who brought Emery to Villa, similar sort of way the Barca execs paved the way for Pep?

Now compare that to our setup. A group of random execs plucked from other clubs/businesses who've done nothing of note (early days for some of course), made a bit of a mess with the transfer window, all with -apparenly- Moyes calling the shots. Hardly seems quite the same vision, does it?

We got Carlo when untested Arteta was available. How did that work out in the scheme of things?
Difference is Villa backed Emery with a few quid at the same time and he is one of the highest paid managers in the league.
We have just come away from points deductions and ffp trouble.

Maybe when the finances settle we can go hunting because they will want backing. To add to the other point though, Emery didn't go to Villa because of their history, he went because of the money and the draw of the PL, which for the most part these days is money
And that’s exactly what I’ve been saying all night, the prem is a massive pull and why you go back in time and bringing up ffp. And Villa in the media’s eyes were relegation fodder only just survived the year before, yes they had spent a bit, but they weren’t really set up to get champions league football, when he joined, but he fit them top 7 from the bottom, beaches a very good manager and since they’ve kicked on.

We should have money moving forward. Also Moyes is one of the highest paid managers in the league

I’m sure Emery was in before monchi who’s since left. Also most clubs work 2 years ahead regarding transfers and most of our recruitment team has been in 5mins before this summer

I bring up FFP because we still have lingering issues with it allegedly
I'd love us to go get a top manager and back them, but we need to be able to do both at the same time.
Maybe that's the plan post Moyes contract, who knows!?

We don’t have any issues regarding PSR apparently, that’s not to say we won’t sell players to help kick on in the future

That gave me a chuckle!
You're also spot on. All those managers know more about our strengths and weaknesses as a team as well as our recent troubles than any of our past glories. They don't care, and it doesn't affect how they set up against us or if they would be interested in managing us
Ah it is it what it is, if some people wish to believe we're a "huge club" because 40 years ago we won some stuff and top managers would turn down UCL level jobs to work here based on VHS tapes and stadium photos, have at it. (Does of course make you wonder why that hasn't been the case for last three decades with both players and managers alike, but hey what do I know...)

Mainly because we had a guy called bill kenwright running the club, who wanted to turn us into a Bournemouth or Brighton, so by surviving in the prem, it made him look good and him being a blue, our fans fell for it as did the local media who never once took him to task over his running of Everton. And being a big club is not trophy dependent. Newcastle just won their first in 70yrs like I pointed out Villa won the majority of their trophy’s a 100yrs ago. Spurs also just won their first trophy in 20yrs and have 2 league titles in their history
we were a bigger club than city before they got their billions.

We may not be one of the top 4 or 5 sky big clubs anymore, but we are still a very big football club.

I get what you're saying but lets be real: every fan base thinks "their club" is a big club. Forest fans, Newcastle fans, Villa fans, Chelsea fans, City fans, Shef Wed fans, Spurs fans, Derby fans, Sunderland fans, Leeds fans, West Ham fans, Birmingham fans, pick-a-name-out-the-hat fans.

I'm not saying we don't have some level of pull and attraction just that I don't find it realistic the names we've been talking about would jump ship to come here if they have better options. I can't see a world in which a Glaser or Ireola says "no thanks" to a UCL level team if the offer was there for them just to come to some other mid-table club with dreams and/or because it was good decades ago.

He's done a decent, Dyche-like job stabilising us, but he really should be moved on in the summer if the owners have any kind of ambition. The transfer window, guided by Moyes, was an absolute disaster and we'll very, very likely go half a season without a single goal from a striker — another famous Everton First.

Dyche is 2nd all time in lost games % after Pardew from that list.
Yeah but what you have to remember is, that despite 2 years here, and despite his 12+ year career of being a "successful" football manager, and despite his pontificating on some nothing youtube channel about his masterclass seminars for the mentally stunted, absolutely NONE of the failings were Dyche's fault and every single issue was there looonnnnggggg before he got here so it's absolutely nothing to do with him at all.

Glad I could clear that up for you.

Beto has scored. Was several games ago but he did. Still, our strikers are nowhere near good enough as it stands. Moyes is a step up from Dyche, but the defeatist attitude that creeps through is disappointing.
