2025/26 David Moyes

He said very similar to that tbf
Saying Newcastle are a better team than us seems to be what's winding people up, but I agree with him, and look forward to the day they aren't.

It seems to me that people are more accepting of losing to Newcastle than they are of the manager being accepting of losing to Newcastle. It hardly means he won't work on what went wrong
It’s wasn’t similar to that at all.

Yes let’s see what he works on? Will be basically the same team and tactics

Because we had an 'on night' at utd. He mentioned Newcastle not having an off night when saying we did
So happy to take the plaudits when we win and make excuses for defeats. Seen a fan earlier today say, I can hear him putting up that glass ceiling and that’s exactly what Moyes does. Makes it look like he’s doing a good job and punching above his weight. May have worked With kenwright won’t wash with TFG

Moyes doesn't and never will see Everton as a club that can get to the top again.

If you start out appreciating that very obvious point then the rest follows easily enough.

He'll never go for 3 points consistently because his core belief is that we'll never make the breakthrough, as you need to spend as much as the elite teams to get back to the top, so why even bother doing anything else other than make the club safe from relegation?

When he came to Everton in 2002 he was hungry and did a great job getting us back to Europe. I think after the 2009 cup final when he was told to sell players he washed his hands of being ambitious at this club again. Understandable react I suppose, but it also means he has no business being here anymore.

Needs to leave ASAP.

I hear ya, but it wasn't that long ago people were seething because Moyes shrugged off crashing out of perhaps the only competition we've got an outside chance of winning but all was long forgiven when we beat United for the first time since the invention of Ceefax. Tis the fickle nature of football, especially when there's a week between games. Some people were raging, for me twas a nothing comment I quickly forgot all about. He'll either be back in favour a few days for beating our boogey team or wont be. C'est la vie.

I don't think anybody who wasn't happy at the dumb cup exit has forgotten it at all. I was pleasantly surprised by the Man U game, enough to start to think he might actually do something different....but it didn't stop me wanting to kick him in the balls for throwing the league cup game.

Even if somebody is happy to have Moyes here you can still be honest and recognise that specific comment about Newcastle needing an off night was very very Moyes and is of course going to wind up fans who have heard that kind of thing multiple times over many seasons with him. I am sure a common reaction was I cannot believe he has actually said that, as its like directly poking at a wound.

Instead I'm reading comments saying posters are wound up because we expect Europe or aren't happy that he said Newcastle are better than us. It's all very silly

We have a first choice striker that hasn't scored yet and it's December. What exactly are you expecting? Newcastle have much better players than us. They had Gordon and Tonali on the bench FFS.
