2025/26 Thierno Barry

Can’t fault the lad tonight, thought he was great first half then worked his socks off second half which is all we can ask of a player… but…. And I genuinely hope I’m proven wrong…. He’s never going to be a regular goalscorer, I just don’t think he has that instinct in him… not knocking the lad but he’s never going to be a solskjar or Defoe type player who’s a ‘fox in the box’ type….. I’d be happy if he could chip in ten a season to be honest as long as he continues to give his all, maybe he’s fayre better with a striker alongside him…. Lone striker is a thankless task at times, but fair play to the lad, he didn’t stop running, he was everywhere second half before going off, but you don’t really want your striker defending on his own 18 yard line if I’m being honest.

His best game for us last night but he never looks like he will score like ever.

Can we stop buying strikers who are decent outside the box and crap in it.
Weve just got rid of one after almost 9 years to replace him with exactly the same player/attributes but younger.
to be fair to him, we were backs to the wall for most of it yesterday so hardly created much for him. He is improving with a run of games. Goals will come.

Did the 10 man striker job really well last night. Very rarely did their centre backs have an easy header, maybe not even once. If he didn't win the ball he made sure that we had a chance for the second ball. Tracked back well enough as well. Looked absolutely spent.

So, that is one part complete, now can he be an attacking striker? I think his confidence is now getting there, just needs that goal to settle him down more.
