2025/26 Seamus Coleman

What actually happened to him? Fully deserved that start tonight after being phenomenal in the international window, not an easy game to get your first league start in a while, get this minor injury addressed and get him back in the starting 11 as soon as. Not having these "he's done at prem level" shouts. He's the captain, he's on the books and we know when fit he's starter quality.

PL is a much more intense pace than international football mate, his body sadly can’t cope with PL football anymore and breaks down.

His heart is willing but his body isn’t able anymore.

Hes 37, it’s natural, it’s just his time, comes to us all, he owes us nothing.

How so ? He's recently played in two massively important world cup qualifiers and done 90 and 60 minutes respectively. Nothing mad at all unless you have a crystal ball.

You've answered your own question there.

For a player like 37 year old Coleman coming off 2 international games to be started in a premier league game, I dont think you need a crystal ball to predict that he'd be an injury risk (again).

The premier league and international games are different types of paces and we've seen how Coleman gets injured frequently these past few years.

He's got to be replaced in January by a new signing and then keep him around the squad as a coach or in a leadership role.

But he hasn’t shown that at all recently. His best performance for us recently was against league 1. He apparently played allright against Hungary and Portugal. So what. International football is a bit rubbish.

For the last 3 seasons, he has broken down every time he has made 2/3 appearances on the bounce.

He has been a great servant for the club and is a club legend, but quality performance wise, that’s years ago now. People complain we are too sentimental and this epitomises that.
