Jelavic must establish himself at Everton

I would like to retract that point - Neville I think has been excellent this season, but definitely NOT Cahill, I just mis-typed that sentence. Edited now

Neville has the pace of an iceberg, the control of Michael J. Fox, the vision of Helen Keller and the hair of a sexually confused boy band member.

But he points like Uncle Sam so it's okay.

Cahill and Neville haven't been consistent though, to be fair. They've been gash for 18 months and two years respectively.

But his overall point -- assuming it was that Jelavic has started well, but that we shouldn't get ahead of ourselves -- was a good one.

cant agree with neville what you see is what you get with him dont think he,s been gash last two years hes played as good as he is as for cahill ok point taken not the player he was but age isnt on hes side but still an important player for us prob more from the bench next year if he,s ok with that role

He's okay as a RB, or would be if not for his total absence of pace.

But Neville as a midfielder... it's like having Jagielka up front, Baines in goal or McFadden in the team.

Yes a badly average footballer who should do us all a fav and retire

Oh but you have to love his floated crosses into the box that go nowhere near anybody

the football we played yesterday with neville in midfield was superb, im sorry but yesterday as in recent games he was great. he isnt the future but he's been a great servant for us

That doesn't mean it was because of Neville.

And servants don't take home £40K+ a week.

Neville is a squad player, he's been asked to do more for various reasons, but I think he adds value to the squad.

Moyes is right about Jelavic, it's only been a few months, let's not get ahead of ourselves. If Moyes can get the playmakers (Pienaar, Dempsey, Donovan, whoever) into the fold, it will help Jelavic immensely.

Hes right in a sesne the second season is harder and players will know more about him.

He is a talent though, but needs support, the most impressive thing about his is he liver of scraps but always uses whatever he gets. Very very good all round player for me.

Well that's where you're wrong, because all signs point to the opposite being true, not just this season but over the course of his Everton career. His best performances have always been in midfield.

Both points are valid for me, i think its more the system and how he fits into it rather then ability, the job he is asked to do he does well. He and Gibbo have been great as a sheild for the defence. The system of a 4-2-3-1 - has worked exceptionaly welll in the last few months. Its less predictable then we have been.

Well, he has made more of an impact more than the forementioned favorites...
Mate I rate jela and he has made a top impact since arriving. But to indicate he has had more of a impact on everton fc than tim Cahill is IMO sadly mis-judged. When jela has been here for years and contributed season after season than we can say he has had more of a impact. Tim Cahill IMO is a everton modern day legend, however I understand for the last 18 months he has not been up to it, however let's not let that cloud the OVERALL contribution of tiny tim over the years

Neville has not done bad. I still think he's our best RB and if rodwell hadn't been injured he wouldn't of been used in cm. Although the semi-final would of been better with Nev cm Fellaini ACM Cahill bench!

Cahill has been poor for years but is still a legend.

Jelavic is awesome and doesn't need his balls licking. Moyes is right he needs to keep it up and establish himself over a number of years

I'd love nothing more than him establishing himself as our premium striker but you just need to look at all the strikers Moyes has brought in for a decent fee and they all have an instant impact but are ruined later on.

James Beattie scored 11 goals I guess in his first season, AJ scored 13 goals and was considered extremely hard working but was told to play on the wings next term and hence his goals dried up. Yakubu scored 22 ****ing goals in his debut season and he was never given a fair chance to prove himself after returning from his injury. He left for B'burn and scored 16 goals.

Stats show that Moyes and strikers don't work out well and so I won't believe that Jelavic is gonna be our main man for the next few years cos Moyes will end up trying to make his defensive game better and his goals will dry up as well.
