The Ashes 2025

It's defo not suited for test cricket though, much better for one day/T20, as you said there is a need for being a bit more savvy/clever at test level.
Or, at least test cricket against a still decent enough team and in challenging environments, be that the pitch, the location or the atmosphere.

It's horses for courses: I'd be looking to get under their skin and to slow and tire Starc, rather than going gung-ho.

The balance between white-ball and test cricket has swung too far, and they've lost the ability to block, defend and frustrate bowling attacks.

England only have one gear, the success at the shorter game has ingrained that mentality and that's their stock setup.
The first innings was like two punch drunk hobo's thrashing about, Aus got drawn into Englands game and came up short, funnily enough they didn't make the same mistake again and batted to the idea of test cricket. Test cricket means batting and bowling for days, England coughed up like a virgin in a brothel, finished before they'd got started.

Hyperbole time. Forfeit the series, pay for a bespoke museum in Aus for the real ashes and give them over. Never pick up bat or ball again. Maybe a few of them will be good at something else, painting fences, driving a bus, picking up litter. Nothing testing of concentration over a duration of say an hour. Easy reset, cuppa tea, back to work. A lazy good for nothing bunch of bums. And our lot made them look fantastic. What a disgrace.

So completely hateful, and so totally predictable.

I just read that only 25 test’s have been over in 2 days in history. England were 99 up with one wicket down at lunch. Ridiculous.

Good job they don’t have two better bowlers to come back…

I don't think it's a fraud, but playing against Australia over there requires composure and being savvy, rather than being purely one-dimensional.

It's all well and good being aggressive when you have the momentum, but in these conditions, the ability to slow the game down and stay out there is key.
It's frustrating as in the 1st innings, Pope and Brook were well in, and threw their wickets away, then in the 2nd, Pope and Duckett did likewise. It's one thing getting out early on to a good one, but another to toss your wicket away when you've done the hard work.

The maddening thing is they didn't even need to block. I don't think any of the (caught) dismissals were fending off balls that would have actually hit the stumps. The middle order collapse today was purely by them chasing at wide balls. It's almost like teams have gotten wise to the absurdity of our batting, that they're given free rein to play stupidly and all you need is to throw enough temptation out there and they will inevitable chase it.

Shameful !!

Hopefully it's just a massive wake up call, but when you keep opening with a Fraud of a cricketer, your not really waking up.

2 days 🙄

Take a bow son.

Same old rubbish over and over, we never learn.

It's the same story every test match, our batters fail and the bowlers have to rescue them.

It can only happen so often before your luck runs out

I accept that the Australian bowlers in Australian conditions are excellent, but with all the players England have available, surely they can find 6 that can bat

It's not good enough but nothing will change. They'll go on about playing their way with no fear and we'll keep on getting beaten
