The Ashes 2025

BBC sports have clips
"BBC Sport will be showing in-play video clips on their website during their live blogs, plus a full daily highlights package to be put on BBC iPlayer at 5pm UK time each day. There will be no terrestrial TV coverage of the Ashes across traditional BBC channels. 3 hours ago"

If all it took to take the game to the green & golds was binning terrestrial highlights, it should have been done decades ago.

England fight back as 19 wickets fall on incredible Ashes first day - https://www.bbc.com/sport/cricket/videos/cvgr4mvd7d7o

It was still bloody poor batting from England by the way. The pitch isn't doing anything extraordinary and the bowling attack included an old man and basically a debutant. Thank goodness England have one of the best all round bowling attacks in world cricket, what an absolute joy to watch the ball zipping through.
It's a strange one isn't it? The pitch didn't seem like Sabina Park in 1998, when the pitch was so broken up on the first day it was spitting and jagging all over the place. This didn't seem to do that at all. I do wonder if T20 etc. has just made batsmen too used to playing on featherbeds

Its just a combination of nerves, poor judgement and technique. There's definitely a lack of patience in the modern game too, players with worse techniques than on show here have made incredible test careers through mental fortitude, Chanderpaul being the obvious one.

I didn't think Australia bowled amazingly, but England most certainly did. If the Australian batsmen had faced their own attack they'd have put 350 on.

Last year, when India toured, it was a similar scene, with the first innings scores barely passing 250 between them. Then India did this in the 3rd. That's got to be the aim tomorrow.

It's definitely doing less than last years game. Its hot in Perth, bloody hot and with the new stadium there's no prevailing wind (the doctor its called, lovely name) coming through in the afternoon to give bowlers a respite. They will tire and runs should flow, providing they keep their smarts.

England's dismissals were mainly through not playing straight, defensively and offensively, its a short boundary down the ground too. A bit of patience on the short ball is all that's required.

They just need to still be batting at close of play. If they are, then it will be a good lead and the bowlers will get rest.

That's the one problem with bazball- bowlers don't get any rest if you only bat 40 overs.
